Target as a decoy

I just bought the “big shooter buck” 3d target on sale at Dicks. It’s bigger (51”h) than the decoys they sell. Anyone use their 3d targets for decoys? It will be kept the way a decoy would be.

I killed a buck in 2007 using my little junky 3D target, it was a pain carrying it in so I usually left it in the brush, but worked like a charm that day.

I used a target a time or two back in the day. Heavy. They worked ok. I think about anything that looks a little like a deer will when the right buck sees it

I don't see a problem, other than the carry weight.

Just make sure you set it in a location where it can be seen by the deer, in plenty of notice. By that I mean... I've set them up in a clearing inside the woods, but had some bad reactions to it...like they just seen it and it spooked them. Having it in an open field (bean, corn, wheat, etc.) allows them time to see it and make their approach, while you wait at the tree line, out of sight.

Good hunting, Bowhunter57
