Update: I sold my H2, the saddle only. I kept the tether and lineman ropes. I just couldn't get comfortable in that saddle, no matter how I adjusted it, sitting or leaning, it didn't matter.
I gave my Lone Wolf Alpha another try and liked the "felt" security of the large platform and safety harness. I typically place the tree stand on the opposite side of the tree, from where I anticipate the deer's arrival. Even so, there's only so much room to use the tree to hide behind and then I'm sticking out like a groundhog on a broom handle.
A week ago, I ordered a Cruzr XC and tried it out for the first time, this evening. I couldn't be more comfortable. The words "ass hammock" come to mind, as I'm sitting/leaning in it.
I modified a Hawk Helium platform with a rope wrap, that gave it some grip and stability (it was slicker than snot without it). Also, replaced the tree cleat, which was convex, instead of concave to grip the tree (purchased it from Tethrd) and added a cinch strap from one of my Muddy Pro climbing stick. The factory Hawk cinch strap was too thin and it wouldn't hold in place.
I also purchased some Wild Edge steps (a 5 pack) and use 3 of them to go around the tree from my platform, to make the transition smoother, from one position to another. A couple of Ropeman 1 ascenders made things easier for my lineman rope and my tether line too. Switched the cinch straps on the Muddy Pro climbing sticks to climbing rated 8mm ropes and it's quieter/quicker.
A military molle pack is what I use to transport the gear (a couple of 12" gear ties too) and it seems to pack/travel very well. Purchased a 26' retractable dog leash with the strap, instead of the cord, to pull up my bow....($23 off of Amazon) The Molle Dump Pouches were $16 for the pair off of Amazon. Can't wait for September 25th!!!
