Took a walk yesterday in an area I haven't been in in years.... Looks like a slight breeze went through this area, as there were about 20 uprooted trees... Could you imagine being up a tree when this happened??? Definately throwing them BVDs out....

I've always been drawn to the are look of the roots. I think they look amazing once all the dirt weathers away.
Yeh they do.... Makes for some great bear habitat... Probably why I saw no deer sign...

I stood by that tangle and had to look up.. I'm over 6ft. So thinking that was 10 ft to the top...

Last bad storm we had this summer dropped a lot of huge oaks in my back yard...some snapped off at the top and others uprooted like the one in your photo. Looks like a game of pick up sticks back there. Makes for good bedding and it did open up the canopy so I expect it to thicken up a bit back there. 100-200 year old oaks sure do block out a lot of sunlight from reaching the ground.
