I'm thinking about getting a small video camera to bring with me hunting. I have no desire whatsoever to tape myself killing animals, but I spend a lot of time in the woods and see some cool stuff sometimes that the phone just doesn't capture very well. anybody have an opinion on a good, small video camera?

I don’t know if it’s “the best “, but I have a Sony handicam. It has served me very well for a number of years. I have hours and hours of video that I love to revisit on occasion. Not interesting for anyone else, but it is a great reminder of cool things for me.

X2...I have a Sony hadicam also. It’s great for filming deer and you can also take pics with it. It has a pretty good zoom feature also and you’d be surprised how close it brings things into view.

After a bunch of research a few years ago I purchased a Cannon Vixea. It offered amazing low light capability as compared to other small video cameras, and was not real expensive. That was in 2012, I'm sure technology has changed a bunch since then. Do a youtube search for low light consumer video cameras and you will get some great information.

I had some hunting video on this site that I shot the year I got the camera. I was very happy with that camera.

One of the cameras I was looking at as well Lundy. I ended up with Panasonic. I'll dig out which model later. Low light capabilities were important to me. Zoom. 1080 wasn't on every camera then but this one had it.
