I'm with Jesse as well. Find exactly what you want. Right color, right temperment, right sex....it will be with you for 10+ years, you don't want any regret.
It's okay guys, thanks though! I was lucky and had great breeders to help me out. Both breeders worked together and ended up finding me 3 more litters and two of them had the same sire with a great pedigree, he's a grand hunting retriever champion and the dam is a hunting retriever champion. They have health clearances for hips eyes and elbows going back 3 generations and they're clear clear for CNM and EIC. Anywho the price of the one litter got dropped last minute because most of the deposits were for females and he had 7 males. So much went on with how I ended up going with this litter but it's too long to type everything lol plenty of phone calls and plenty of talks with breeders but I'm extremely excited. I get him @ 8 weeks the evening of 4/26, I wanted to get one weekend of spring gobbler in before I got locked down with the pup.
I truly had some of the best guys working for me to find me a chocolate male that I'd like and they helped me every step of the way reviewing pedigrees for me and explaining me everything. I knew nothing about that stuff prior to this. If anyone is looking for a dog ever contact Rick Abolt at Waterloo Gundogs http://www.waterloogundogs.com/ he's a heck of a guy.
I'd get what you want. I'm waiting right now for what I want and it'll be worth it I'm sure. Don't just take a dog to take a dog. Make sure you get the right one for you.
It didn't take me long to choose. I had to pick one and there was 9 of them black lab. I stood there, watched them wrestle, sure enough I liked that one dude he came up to me and wanted to play the whole time so I decided to take him home. He was 2 1/2 months and now he is a year old. He's a cool dude. Just take your time and go with your heart.
