That's what you call a freak right there!

*Edit... Just read the story on OGF... Impressive buck for sure, but finding out it was shot over a pile of "food" deducted some points for me. Giant deer, nonetheless.*

Corn, Apples, Corn field, Bean field, Food Plot, Hay Field or Apple Orchard....They gotta eat somewhere....................LOL.............

I am surprised it has taken so long for this one to get out.
Dang the luck too it was kilt less than 2 miles from a property I hunt.

Jbrown,
Most deer in Ohio are kilt over a corn pile.:smiley_crocodile:

Over food or on the way to the food? On the way is no different than hunting a food plot in my opinion.

Look, it's an awesome deer and I'm really happy for the guy... It's a deer of a lifetime without a doubt. Killing a big deer 'on the way' to the food and shooting deer in food plots may be similar... I have no problem with that... But shooting them while their nose is in the pile is not the same thing, IMO. From the story on OGF, this is how I interpreted the hunt. To each their own.... It's just not for me. I know a guy who has a wall of big bucks, and acts like he's the Great White Hunter... Yet damn near every deer on that wall was killed with it's nose in a bait pile. There's no skill in that. Put him in an unfamiliar woods without the option of baiting and he wouldn't have a clue how to kill a deer. I'm not saying the guy that shot this giant is like that, but that's a big reason I'm not a fan of that style of hunting. I'm sorry if I come off as an elitist 'holier than thou' jerk with this response, but I assure you that's not my intent. I've shot does over a pile of corn and had no problem with it... I was there to shoot 'em not hunt 'em... to put meat in the freezer. Shooting a monster buck on top of a bait pile just takes away some of the majesty in it don't you think?

Dead deer is a dead deer IMHO. I wouldn't feel one bit less shooting it eating corn. Legal and no fences I am gtg.

I respect your style JB.... I just see it that EVERYTHING is in their favor except for their stomach and the desire to breed. Bucks are EXTREMELY on Alert when approaching a bait pile especially an educated one. It's not as easy as it sounds.

No doubt about it. If anyone knows, it's Swantucky...
