Dang.. we can't hit!!! Left a shit ton of runners on and our SS decided to throw a few away. We wasted a great effort from our freshman lefty and lost 5-3. He only gave up 4 hits and 3 were bleeders. Out of the first 18 outs, 14 were pop ups. Our SS, who is not our regular SS and usually plays 2B, killed us in the field and at the plate leaving the bases loaded twice (he's our 3 hitter).
Our normal SS is recovering from a dislocated throwing elbow (he's also our number 1 pitcher). That kd is good! He's back in a week and hopefully he will be able to throw like he used to because he had a hose.

Anyway... we travel to Lisbon Beaver Local tomorrow for a DH. I'm low on pitching so I won't be heart broken if it rains.

Dang that sucks, Mike. That's pretty bad when your 3 hitter leaves the bases juiced, twice... but hey that's baseball. Good luck at the next one.

Well thanks to Jesse, keeping my work schedule straight for me, we got our league schedule done. After the schedule meeting I went to the field and we finshed leveling up some low spots and got the fence put up, two weeks till opener.

We are starting to play much better the last 5 games and are 4-1 in that stretch. Our seniors have finally started to field the ball like they've actually done it before and two freshman I had to bring up are smacking the ball. Hopefully we get hot at the right time.
It's been a trying season so far to say the least. But, the coaching staff is still busting their ass and the kids are playing more confident.

Chillin' in my new Creek Baseball gear tonight! Gotta love it!!!

Also decided I'm going to hop on the Texas Rangers band wagon this year. I have never had a solid AL team as a Reds fan and I refuse to root for Cleveland.

That's a low down dirty shame right there....

I will in the morning, but we are pretty close to the end. Tournament seeding is next Sunday.
Or you can go MaxPreps.com and look up Indian Creek. Our stats and everything are on there. Keep in mind, it's been a rough season so far, but we are 5-1 in the last 6.
We had a nice outing in the hill last night as we beat Buckeye Local 6-4.

We have really started to turn the season around. We have won 6 of our last 7 and defeated Harrison Central last night 9-2. Our pitchers have thrown 5 complete games in a row (2 by a freshman) and our defense has been finally playing to their potential. The rest has taken care of itself. So, after a miserable first two weeks of the season, the last week and a half has gone much better. We travel to Toronto today and then our sectional drawing is Sunday. I'm hoping we can squeeze out a 5 or 6 seed. The top 3 seeds will be:
1. Cambridge 17-2
2. Richmond Edison 17-3
3. Steubenville 15-5

After that, it's up in the air. We sit at 8-13 after our bad start. I've never been 8-13... it's been a humbling experience. But, it's how you finish and the kids are playing much more confident.
We have one more full week left before the sectionals start. We still play Carrollton, Beaver Local, Weirton, and Bridgeport. Hoping we can get to .500 by the end of the regular season and gain some respect back.

We moved to 9-13 last night with a 10-7 win over Toronto. That makes us 7-1 in the last 8 games. I'm really proud of the kids for how they stuck with it and turned it around.

On a peronal note, my youngest son, Klay (10) opened up his season today. He was brought in to pictch in the top of the 2nd in a 1-1 tie. The bases were loaded and nobody out and he struck out the side to keep it 1-1. He then pitched the third (struck out the side again) and the fourth and recorded one more K. He ended up with 7k's in 3 innings and delivered a single and scored the go ahead run in a 4-2 win. He also made the last play of the game at SS fielding the ball and tagging the kid out heading to third.

Feel free to chime in about your boys and hirls playing. I love hearing baseball stories.

Jesse, when does your season start?

Fuggin Rivera blows out his knee shaggin fly balls during batting practice. Given the trampoline incident of earlier this year, the Yankees are beating themselves! :tantrum:

We smacked 5 triples in our game tonight. Dang outfielders for Bridgeport were playing waaaaayyyyy toooooo shallowwww....

It's been a roller coaster season fellas, but we are still playing better. Saturday starts the sectionals and we play one of our rivals, Buckeye Local. Win or go home!

Huck, sorry to hear about your Yankeerotflmao

On second thought... I feel your pain. Back in 2007 we lost our best player during our last practice before our first game of the season. He was our SS and was going back on a flyball during BP. He rolled his ankle on the edge of the outfield grass and blew out his tendons. He was the OVAC 4A player of the year as a junior and a 4 year starter at SS. This kid was a one man wrecking machine. He missed 3 weeks of the season and basically only played in the tournament. Talk about bad luck. So, I do feel bad for Rivera. He's been a great pro. Too bad he's a Yankee.

Glad your season is turning up for you, Mike!

My boys are horrible. I have three, maybe four that look like they have thrown a rock. One of my best players is legally blind...but he works harder than any of the other boys and it shows! I have two boys that are really good, the blind boy, and Mason are also fair. How the heck do kids get to 7 or 8 years old without basic hand-eye coordination? Good grief. I can only hope the other teams are as horrible. On the bright side, most of the boys will still have a great time as they really seem to enjoy picking grass in the outfield!:)
