I planted 6 trees today. Three were Honeycrisp apples, one crab apple for pollination and two Keifer Pears. I'm going to get two more pear trees. I have six 5' swamp oaks coming and then 10 more mixed oaks from the Arbor Day Foundation. It was pretty warm and I was happy to see that my mineral site was discovered. The pair of mallards flying into the swamp was cool. My trail cam pics revealed does and yearlings, some coons, a grinner, a chocolate lab and a cat. I enjoyed my day off!!

That's the American dream...buy and work your own little slice of heaven.

No doubt about it. Problem with it is once you get it. . . .you want more. Feels pretty good planting something on your property which you can watch grow for many years much like your children. You will be glad you planted those trees Mike! I drive by some properties we have worked on and point to trees (and sound like an old person) "You see those trees kids? I planted those and they were 6' tall. Now they are 30' tall."

I put in 6 swamp white oaks around the wet spot today along with 3 cedars and 4 lilacs since I had good starts from the yard.
Here is a vido of the wet spot. The frogs are already singing.

It sure is flooded out there. Some of my trees are under water, but they're water loving trees. No turkey pics, but the deer found the mineral site.

I planted 6 spruce trees and then planted 1 lb of millet and 2 lbs of switch grass around the swamp. Never in my life have I seen so many mosquitoes. It was down right scary.

Your wet area back there should be pretty easy to treat with larvicide. A Bacillus sp. bacterial larvicide works wonders, but can be tough to find at normal retailers. An Altosid larvicide is a bit easier to find and also works pretty well.

My millet is about three inches tall and the switch grass hasn't started yet. The cam check was disappointing. The mineral site is absolutely demolished.
