......for all my young bucks this week! God help them, here comes the orange army! Hopefully they hide and dont get in the way of the slinging lead!

Have I ever mentioned how much I dislike gun season????

They will be safe in front of me Zach! Only hunting I am doing is hunting for trespassers! I am actually waiting on a return phone call in regards to the doe permits. Might still be able to hunt, but just not sure. It is a bit confusing to read the regs and try to figure out on your own. I am dumb though.

I pray that a button buck or a spike or a fork horn or anything called a deer steps in front of my son or I tonight after work.

I hope it does as well. He is a kid, and I love seeing kids kill deer! Not to mention your not hunting near me! ha I am still looking for a youngin to take hunting actually! I have a barrage of deer behind my house that havent been hunted hardly at all this year!

There are several bucks on my prayer list as well! This is just wrong, but funny because deep down we all reeeeeeaaaallllly want these big boys to make it! Watched 7 hunters surrounding the woods I hunted most of the early season. Watched about a dozen deer along the edges of woods about 1/2 mile away from that country block. Seemed like there were deer in back yards, small wood lots where you never see deer, and just about everywhere except where all these guys are hunting. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I'm afraid to walk into my spot today for fear of running any bucks at all over to the neighboring hunting club or any other property. I'm tempted to stay out completely.
I know exactly where you guys are coming from. You get almost attached to these deer and dread seeing anyone else get them. Yes, I'm selfish

I just dont see this as being wrong or selfish! You take the time to watch, scout and let these deer get to the right size. THe last thing you want to happen is a group of 6 guys gonig through and pushing the deer in front of their buddies so they can sling lead at them. Especially if the guys are tresspassing. Which is why I have to patrol everyday this week that I dont work!

Oh, I didn't say it was wrong with the selfish comment. i was just kidding with that. I agree 100% with you. That's why I'm afraid to walk onto my hunting grounds. The last thing I want to hear as I walk in is a shot close by. My mind begins wandering with which buck has been taken.

I use to gun hunt, now if I can I will but when I was younger and didn't have the time to hunt with a bow, I killed most of my deer with a shotgun or muzzleloader...I would still do alot of scouting trying to locate a big one and pattern him for gun season...and I would go out with a borrowed crossbow just not as often as I do with my compound. I support guys who HUNT with a gun just not the slobs that come with the guns that HUNT with a gun.....there is a big difference....However being a 90% bow hunter now I do find myself praying that no biggins get shot lol.....Like Kaiser said bow hunters put alot of time and effort into hunting deer

Good news on farm East. One guy in there (with permission) and in my road scouting I didn't see any strange vehicles parked or orange blurs where they weren't supposed to be. This is good. Farm West is where I saw 7 guys. Three of them I know were legit and allowed to be in there. The others? I dunno. However, by noon there was not a single truck parked there. Fair weather hunters? Probably. Rain tonight, tomorrow, and into tomorrow night!!!!! Yes! That will keep a bunch more at home.

Funny thing....there's a nice 10pt buck in the same area that I took my opening day buck...I've probably watched him while on stand for a total of 2 hrs this season...saw him again twice this weekend....one of the other guys who hunts the property saw him yesterday also but was hunting with his son and they weren't ready when he showed up (kid's feet were cold and they had his boots off putting in hothands). Last night I put my uncle on this buck (told him which of my stands to use and when to expect him thru), and I also hope this other hunter success. But I'm also hoping in my heart that he makes it thru and I get to see him during the early season next year. I'm also hoping that he evades these other guys who hunt the property once a year during gun season (I haven't let them know he's around or they'd probably sit my stands :smiley_boos: )

He's not my deer...but I'm kinda attached

Good luck to your deer Kaiser and JB....but they don't belong to us....
Kinda bittersweet thinkin about it, isn't it?
