Went up to Delaware State Wildlife area today for a little training... Sarge is progressing nicely! Still a LONG way to go though!
Had a "Fun" training day with Sarge, working on blind retrieves. He's still a little young and immature to understand hand signals from me but we worked on baby steps last night at the High School ponds. The tennis players like to smash the balls over the fence into the ponds so it was a great opportunity to work on marks with little to no failure. He got 44 balls in about an hour..... def slept good last night but smelled like shit the whole ride home!!!

Have you force-fetched Sarge yet? If not, are you planning on it? Betty is losing teeth like crazy right now but I think she's almost got them cleared out. We'll move on to force fetch once all of her adult teeth have come in.

Thanks, Yea I plan on FF him in a couple weeks. He's got all his adult teeth in but they are only about 3/4 full growth so another week should be good. He learns fairly quick so "hopefully" he'll pick up on FF quick. Some days he worries me being so much English that he tires quicker than American labs. I don't expect him to be a MH or GRCH but would like a SOLID hunting dog that's obedient.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that man! There's nothing more worthless than a disobedient hunting dog. I'm sure Sarge will turn into a great dog. Keep me posted on how the FF process goes. I've been working on OB with Betty every night for the past 3 weeks or so. I figure the more obedient she is at the time of FF the better. We shall see.
I hear ya, that's all we've been working on lately, that and collar conditioning. We'll have to get the pups together for a swim this summer so we can put a face to the name. Plus with me being closer to the south zone it could give Betty some more late season outings! You up by Wooster by chance?
Well, sort of. I was located pretty close to Wooster, but I took a new job a month ago or so and have since relocated to NW Ohio. I still get over toward Wooster every now and then, though.
