I had another great hunt this morning. Went to Fayette Co. Saw a little buck shortly after sunup. Did not see anything interesting again until 830 or so. Four antlerless deer came out of a woodlot right where I shot my last good buck year before last. There were deer all around that stand yesterday too! Anyway, one of the does got up on her back legs and slapped her fawn silly, I figured she was starting to smell right, and the sudden parade of would be suitors proved that thought to be correct. There were three or four small bucks that dogged her around the fields and woodlot for an hour or so...and one pretty nice one! He owned the scene when he showed up, and I think I'd kill him dead if given the chance. It appears he has a double main beam or something on his left side, fairly heavy, and good enough for me to shoot! I watched the deer off and on until 1030 or so when I slipped out of the tree and headed for the truck. Close to the truck I found what I've been waiting for ...big signpost rub! Back before I ever owned a trailcam I would drive by the farm and glass a couple of spots for the big rubs. When they show up, it's time to hunt! I ran the cams over these same old rubs, and proof was in the pudding. IMO, there was no point in stinking up the farm until the rubs show up as apparently there are no really good ones on the place until the rubs pop like mushrooms. It's on fellas...the next two weeks will find me in the fencerow every chance I have.

Below is the pics of the good one I saw this morning. At first I thought it was two deer, but after watching the video I'm pretty sure it is the same deer. Notice the rub is on the same tree that's been rubbed for years?

Yep, same one. He's a nice buck, and I will shoot him given the chance, but he looks bigger than he should in the first pic, I think. He's cool looking though, something extra on that left side and I think his G2 is split maybe on the right....? I'm sure I'll see bigger in the next couple of weeks, but not if this one comes by first!:)

YOU ARE THATS THE SAME ONE? That first pic of a buck looks monstrous compared to the other. Maybe it's the angle of the dangle, but holy crap!

Wayne if you look real close you can see the extra MB on his left side...it's whitish.

Good luck again Brock!

If it isn't raining too bad in the morning, the sound of a pre-dawn buck fight will fill the air in Fayette Co., Ric! I usually wait till I see deer acting right to rattle, that sucker would have come to horns if I'd have had 'em this morning!

Damn! Good luck with that biggun!!!

Funny about Mason stretching at the worst time. A few years back we were hot on the trail of a nice 10 pointer the first year Kody was hunting. I had already cashed in so the entire rut was Kody's.
The night before gun season that big 10, which was at least 140, was making his way toward us. Kody gets the crossbow ready and at about 50 yards Kody decides he has to pee. I beg him to hold it, but he can't. He stands up to pee because he says he can't go any longer and the buck bolts.
I was sick! He was heading right for the shooting lane and closing fast.
We were in a makeshift ground blind behind a deadfall so the cover wasn't as good as a tent. Of all times to have to piss! He was 10 at the time, so what could I say? Lol

Haha! Great story, Mike. And I second what Huck said. But, being a dad, I know that wouldn't work. Dang kids will do whatever won't get them beat.
