Be careful sledding

Glad to gear he is ok.

My 4 year old son and I went sledding for the first time last year.

We went down a semi busy hill while ther was a break in the action. We went down in a generic plastic, caught an edge and tipped over. I no sooner rolled over and righted myself then grabbed the side of my son's hood to do the same when a size 12 logger boot zoomed past my head, destroyed my hand and the side of my sons face. He went flying away from me, then a fraction of a second later the guys crotch hit me in the back of the head and sprung me over forward into a somersault like a frontward-horse collar tackle. The "kid" that hit us was 6'1" 250.

My son was some how ok, very traumatized but ok. His whole left ear was deep purple and that was with my hand softening the blow. If my hand was functional, and I had someone to take care of my son right after it happened, I would have gone to jail that day.

Sledding is dangerous.

it's gonna be a while before we go again.

One of my very good friends summed it up very well for me today. I was talking to him in disbelief still. Amazed he had essentially no major injuries outside of the bruising and cuts. My friend's reply: "It is very simple. There was an angel between Garrett and that pole. Keep living the way you are living Phil." Wow. No doubt in my mind God had a hand in it, but this summarized it quite well.

Glad he's alright phil. That's enough to scare the shit outta ya

Brings back a memory of my sister wrecking into a hail bail while sledding when I was about 5. Man, we put my dad through the ringer that day. What a mess. lol

Scary indeed. I'm glad things are ok. Which reminds me .... back in the mid '90s, we had a really bad ice storm here. A few days later, I got the bright idea to take my step son & neighbor kid over to Dillon State Park's sledding hill. It was covered in ice of course & it looked so cool. Unfortuantely, the lay of the land took my stepson whose on a innertube off course & down into the woods into a drop off. I was probably shitting myself as I drove all the way around to get to the bottom, then having to run a few hundred yards to get to him down in the woods. Ended up takin him to the E.R. ... & having to explain to my coworkers what I did. He was ok, but it was scary. A few years before that, we were sledding in my yard & ended up putting my mom who was @ 70 or so at the time on that same innertube. She ran into my brother at the bottom & broke some ribs. If I call ya & ask if u wanna go sledding, hang up. lol

and sorry to about that too... sledding really can be a terror. Granted it wasn't conventional sledding but I remember taking a tree to the ribs when we'd whip each other around on a sled behind our quads.

Glad he is ok Phil. Also glad he has a hard head like his dad lol.

Lord knows I have tested the durability of many motorcycle helmets. Not so sure I am all that "hard headed" in a literal sense. I never claimed to be all there. You know me well enough Adam. I am a goofy son of a gun. lmao

In stubborn sense. . . .oh yeah. I am plenty hard headed.
