Today's word of the day is Patience.

I've waited 20 years for today.

Today marks the day I completed my "Grandpa(s) Gun" set.

Today's acquisition is a 1949 Ithaca Model 37 featherlight thanks to two generous cousins.

It is accompanied by a 1934 Winchester Model 12 that I previously owned. Both are chambered as 12 gauges.

It's time to take some memories to the field to make more memories.

God is good.

Great story!!!! My first gun is a 37 winchester single shot in 16ga. that i got when when my grandpa passed away in 1976. I also ended up with my wifes grandfathers Ithaca 37 in 12ga. We were over her grandmas house for a visit when i first met my wife and the family is asking me about what i like to do and i say i love to hunt. Her grandma says right away that her husband was a hunter and asks me if i want his shotgun. I'm like yeah i would love to have it so my wife (then girl friend) go back to the bedroom to get it and when they come out right away i see its a old ithaca in great shape. My wifes brother was there and never said anything and didn't even want to look at it. Thanks for posting your story it brought back some great memorys for me!!!!

Nice pics of a couple of very nice guns.
There have been lots of debates about which is the better classic pump gun, the M12 or the m37. Winchester sold more guns then Ithaca, but the Ithaca is still being made. The Ithaca is a simpler action, less machining and hand fitting of parts. Winchesters were a little heavier so probably the better waterfowl and clays gun, Ithaca probably had the edge as an upland gun.

You have both, after you shoot them some side by side it would be interesting to hear your comparison of the 2.

I have shot neither but the action seems a lot smoother on the Ithaca Model 37.

Tomorrow I'm taking them both outside to at least cycle some shells through them.

Hopefully, nothing goes boom.
