Sweet! Love seeing the progress! You said they were putting bars in that wall right? Figured they would have cast them in with the footing.

I dunno if it's a family friend or anything that'd make it awkward to criticize but if they say they still are you may wanna question how they're going to go about doing that... I've never see a 9ft long drill bit before lol

No the rebar is only through the blocks, not down into the footer. I'd discussed this with several contractors over the years and all talked about doing it the same way. I don't think the wall moving on the footer is a concern, I think having it strong enough to support the barn and equipment driving over the top is the reason for the rebar and filling the block. I think the builder said it's going to take 14 yards of concrete to fill the block.

The biggest concrete job I ever did was the foundation for a 730,000 bushel grain bin and we didn't attach the stem walls to the footer. I think you'll be fine with a barn wall!

Man that's weird especially cuz it's a retaining wall, that's gonna be backfilled right? The firm I work firm we've had this issue a lot recently and it's mostly b/c the contractors don't want to place the bars in the ftg cuz it's a pain in the ass for the mason to align his blocks perfectly with the bars. One thing they'll do on smaller projects is lay the first wythe of blocks then come back and drill and epoxy the bars into the footing.
