TOO Garden Thread

Looks good. You guys are lucky with having gardens. My last few gardens were just over night deer food. Plant today and gone tomorrow morning.
The wife said don't bother with a deer proof fence and even after I bought cattle coral panels to use. She's not interested.

Here is my garden, and there will be no laughing! When Milo mentioned a garden sock, I checked into it, but they were really expensive. After looking around, I discovered grow bags and decided to go this route.

Except for the tomatoes and bell peppers, everything else was started from seed. So far, so good!

Here's 2 views of the whole garden. I don't want to weed-whack in between as I am afraid of ruining the bags. At first, I was pulling the grass and weeds, but have decided to go get some straw instead. I'll be putting that between the rows.



Here's tomatoes and some squash:



And here are yellow wax beans (many blooms) and though I did plant some cucumbers in bags, I also stuck some in straw, just to experiment.

No pictures but the garden is off to a good start. Tomato plants are kicking butt again. Peppers and all the other crap my wife bought is taking off as well. She talks of adding more real soon, but keeping up on the weeding with our current plantings is a big enough chore. Will all be worth it when she is canning and we are eating it.

Which one? Peas are on the left and cucumbers are the ones in front. Leaving one bed half open because I have a hen turkey dusting in there.

That's my cucumber trellis and it works really slick. They hang in the shade like apples and you also don't get a bunch of insecticide on them when I have to spray . Win win in the pickle department

looks dang good Diane. Me and the boy picked about 4 gallons of strawberries tonight and will have to pick peas by the weekend. Keep up the good work.

I built one last year Milo its a a frame its the cats meow. They are alot easier to pick.

Will try to snap pics this weekend, but my dad and I put another one in at his place as well as expanded a little down there. My grandpa didn't feel up to planting his this year so I put it in for him, I also put a small one in at my mother in-laws as well. Hopefully at least one of the three produce for us.

I got my little garden in a couple weeks ago but didn't want to post a pic until I got my red geranium in. The red geranium is in honor of my grandad. His favorite flower was a red geranium and I never put a garden in without one. Eight tomatoes and five hills of cukes. And one red geranium.

Looking good everyone. Erin wants to do some vertical growing of cucumbers and zucchini. Wants to plant green beans still as well. I don't know. Already expanded the garden and she hasn't planted it yet. Already a struggle to stay on top of the weeds. My schedule isn't exactly allowing me the time to help her build a structure to grow vertically or plant more. Maybe next year unless she gets ambitious.

I feel your pain Phil with the time issue. I have my gardens in but the weeds are starting to come. With baseball games 4h and the weather I'm a little behind on the maintenance end.

My garden is rocking right along but I'm jealous of you southern boys. So far I have no fruits for my labor. The weeds have been kicking my ass lately. I made a huge mistake in letting them get out of hand and I paid dearly for it. Hours of pulling and cultivating and a sore back for a week straight, but I finally have things cleaned back up. I have a way bigger garden than I need but I enjoy farting around out there every night. I think if I keep on it and hit the weeds little by little I will be much better off. My biggest issue is going to be the critters. I live in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by woods and water and prairie. If I get to pick at least one ear of sweet corn this summer I'll be shocked. LOL
