Hedge- I did read it. I also looked at the stats on the follow up. Backs up the points I have used for everyone who has suggested I go the 45 route.

1. I hope I am NEVER in this situation.
2. Verifies- Psychological stop of actually defending yourself is generally enough stopping power whether carrying a 22 or 45.
3. IF I were ever in this situation, it is simply a darn shame I can't carry a 12g around.
4. IF ever in this situation, 9mm or 45 have negligible differences.
5. Jackalope is probably right. I have bad luck at times. Thus the reason I am looking at new guns for a change.
6. Sometimes I simply get bored with my carry piece and I am ready to change. Sometimes when it is time for a change, I am willing to open my eyes and try to be open minded. I still like a certain size of pistol to carry though. This doesn't change. Full size 9/40/45 just doesn't carry well for me. You are correct. Uncomfortable carry piece left at home is useless.

For the input and opinions of all, I appreciate it fellas. I anticipated the received responses and don't think there is necessarily a wrong answer. Healthy to debate a little and make ones self think. I ended up ordering the xds45. In most scenarios I could find myself in, I feel it will be a good choice. In other scenarios (late night plowing snow or repairing a parking lot sweeper truck) a second piece in my vehicle or on my person is not a bad idea. Doesn't happen often, so not really a big deal in regards to comfort in carrying. Although I plan to carry the xds45 daily, I think I may still continue to shop for a Glock 26. Thoughts of xds45 and xds9 sound good on paper, but I don't want any confusion between calibers/magazines if I am in a situation where autopilot takes over. I don't think 2 guns which look very similar but have 2 different calibers is a good idea. Just me though.

Thank you all again!

Phil I will beg to differ with you on 2 like guns in different calibers. I really don't see much confusion in 2 different calibers in magazine as they are so much different in size between a 9MM and 45ACP.
Now I would have some slight concern with a 9MM and 40 S&W. Then I would use paint on one of the calibers to make a different look. Might be a good idea on to paint the magazines on the 9MM and 45ACP. Something to think about.

Two pistol of the same design gives me anyway a same thought process in in use.

Walbridge oh
Check Jaquas on that 26. They have them in stock and the price is pretty good. I will admit that i didn't read the links because i have been on and still am about five 1911 forums and have heard what they have to say so sorry about that one. Glad to see that people are carrying something to protect themselves and family. Shoot straight fellas!!!!

Good points. Another pro would be the option to potentially own one Crossbreed holster to carry either Springfield xds. I believe they are close enough I could get away with it. Need to check into this. The only confusion would be in the unlikely event you are in a high stress situation where you are forced to draw your weapon. You would have to be carrying both at the same time and have extra magazines for both. I have a higher percentage chance of winning the lottery I believe. One at a time for now. I will start with the xds45. Thus far, the gun is ordered, 2 of the 7rd mags are ordered, a 250rd box of FMJ Magtec ammo is ordered, and a 20rd box of Hyrda-shoks are ordered. Keeping my eyes peeled on Crossbreed seconds right now. Part of me says get another Supertuck. Part of me is contemplating trying out the appendix carry in the future. Have never appendix carried before. Not sure if I would like it or not.

I would suggest HST rather than Hydrashocks. It is a newer technology for a hollowpoint and performs more reliably through multiple different fabrics/barriers. If you can't find them for 45ACP let me know.

If you ARE going to carry multiple calibers, the best ideas is to have them in a similar platform. That way under the stress of the situation you already have the muscle memory formed. Its challenging to be an expert on a Sig DA/SA, 1911, and a Glock. Too many variables between the systems to reliably know you are going to make the adjustments.

I love my crossbreed holster and find it incredibly comfortable. The "combat cut" is a personal thing and if you are comfortable doing it, get the non and cut it down to fit your comfort (but you lose the warranty if I recall correctly). I'd also recommend a good magazine carrier to have a spare on you at all times (I like one that runs parallel with your belt, more comfortable for me that way) and I also have a spare magazine in my car for the guns I am most likely to carry.

Made it to Vance's yesterday. Picked up the xds45. Sadly, those dirty dogs had a used Glock 26 in their case. Even more sad, my wife was with me. She is well aware I headed there to pick up one, but came home with two. She made reference to wanting a "blue diamond on a ring" more than once on the way home. Guess I better start saving some more mad money. Got to take care of Momma as well.

Shot both today. Good stuff. Will be cleaning both here shortly. Plan to carry the xds45 until I get the holsters ordered. I have one holster which carries the xds45 well but is OWB. Not my first choice but comfy and conceals it well.

Cool stuff.

About that blue diamond. You have a couple choices.

Real blue diamonds are about $10,000 per 1/10th of a karat. At the 1k mark they're about $150,000

Real diamond that's been treated blue. In this process they take a real diamond and use radiation to change the color to blue. They'll charge you the market price for a diamond they've ruined the value of. The stones are not worth a thing. These will say "treated" or "enhanced". By law, a jeweler has to notify you a diamonds been treated or enhanced. Why. Because they're trying to charge you more than full diamond price for a ruined stone.

Simulated blue diamonds are lab created stones that are priced correctly. Your best bet.

Thanks for the input Joe. Sounds like I need to find a place with a 10yr layaway plan. Haha. 1/10 carat blue diamond delivered on our 25th anniversary might be the ticket. I can budget $1000/yr for the next 10yrs to get her a 10th carat diamond. Lmao
