Good deal Tom! A dog that can blood trail is one hell of any asset. My uncle had a German Shepard mix that was pretty good at it and she saved a few nice bucks from going to waste. Including one that was the end result of the weirdest blood trail/track job I've ever been on.

The other day at work one of the office ladies asked me if I would take her 14 yo deer hunting. She told me that her uncles own farms in Tuscarawas and Coshocton counties. I told her that I would because its something that I've never got to do and he don't have anyone to take him. I loaded up the ranger this morning and headed to ragersville. The first farm only had a secluded alfalfa field with plenty of woods around it, but all the corn was up front by the road. The other farm, holy shit... I should of took a trail camera with me. Secluded bean fields and corn fields surrounded with plenty of woods and a creek running right through the middle, and nobody has hunted it in years. Oh, and she said I have permission too hunt!

Secluded alfalfa????? Forget the corn and beans! I used to shoot deer as they left a cornfield bedding area to feed in alfalfa. IMO, it is the BEST early season magnet there is.

Makes sense. There's a corn field behind the alfalfa field at my ol lady's sisters and I watched that big boy feed on the alfalfa for a while last night.
