Just because you aren't getting pics of them right now does not mean they won't be there when it counts.

Jesse- sounds like a great find and fun place to try your luck!

Finally made it up to check out a piece of private ground I have access to. It is 72 acres surrounded by public, with a privately managed farm (240 acres) less than a mile away. There is 50-60 acres of corn 1.2 miles away. This is remote and hard to access. Its vertical acreage and its THICK. We scouted out some terrain features and located two producing persimmons on the narrow ridge spine we walked. Tough, tough access and next to no shooting. But it sits inside 1,200 acres of WNF and this area is known to produce some slungers. We wanted a place to get back to basics and we sure found it today!!! We'll earn anything we kill here.

That sounds similar to one of my other uncle's properties I used to hunt pretty often over in Vinton County. Was really only one way in and out, tough and steep! The only thing that seemed to work was get in way before daylight and sit all day. Kind of banking on deer being in other places and if you do blow them out there is plenty of time to let things settle before daylight.

It was easy to decide that when we hunt here, we have to be in an hour before light and sit all day. Just no other way to do it. I also think it'll be a good place to try scents and light calling. One spot we located is a 30' x 100' opening surrounded by thicket right in the middle of a saddle. There is a nice shelf to the E and the persimmon to the W. No suitable trees for a stand, but there is a great spot for a ground blind. It is close quarters combat, but it should be the perfect spot to lure a back in to see what he hears/smells. It has two great trees for scrapes too. That will probably be the spot I sit first.

Will do and thank you again for the help!! With having to wait so long and now with all kinds of OT at my finger tips I think I'm holding out for the Elite E32 or 35. Going to try to shoot both this week at the archery shop by work and see which I prefer. Not many showing up lately on AT though so I hate to bite the bullet but I think I will if it comes down to it.

A little Skeeter Creek action...I like it Milo!!

Finally ordered the new bow today. Got tired of looking at junk on AT and having guys not budge on used bows with scratches wanting near the same price it did to order one. The new bow should be here in 1-2 weeks......Elite Energy 35......black riser with realtree camo limbs. They had a couple there that others had ordered and man does that combination look sweet!! Will look like shit with my old accessories for this year but hey, Rome wasn't built in a day LOL!

I made the call today; two dozen shafts, 100 quick spin 2", a dozen Slick Tricks, extra inserts and nocks too, and a half dozen arrahs for the Excalibur... Mason will need a few of them, hopefully. Tis the season indeed!
