I probably still would if I didn't realize this year that the waterfowl IS NOT as shitty as I thought it was and in fact, the quality of the hunting around here (if you have a boat) far exceeds that of the deer hunting. I like quality time outdoors and that's hard to come by in the deer woods these days.

I'm right there too Jake. It's nice to have two things to help balance everything out. Sure helps me from getting burnt out anymore.

Absolutely. That's pretty much where I'm at between the two. Before I started waterfowling hard I used to get burnt out on deer. That doesn't happen anymore. Now that I have Betty I've shifted even more toward waterfowl. The deer hunting is simply a bonus for me. In all honesty, its kinda nice not getting real hung up on the pursuit of big deer. I've never been good at it anyway so this helps ease that pain! Lol

I scoffed at dudes on OW that said I'd want to trade my deer for ducks one day. Talk about foresight! The passion I had for deer is now for waterfowl and I'll hunt deer to satisfy what lingering dedication I have. Waterfowl is where its at! Once we have a boat, that'll be heaven!!!

I made the same transition this year. Getting a legit boat and getting on the river changed it for me. You will be the same way I bet. I already can't wait for next waterfowl season to get here!

X2! I've always enjoyed deer hunting but starting getting burnt out, BAD!!! Duck hunting was my release.... but once I got Sarge it became my priority! This is the first year in a while I didn't kill a mature buck, kinda sad actually but well worth it getting to experience as many "firsts" as I did through Sarge's eyes. It truly brought back the meaning of FUN in hunting again for me and I got to meet a lot of new people this year that I now call my friends!

Saw the same thing up here Mao... Right down the road from home. Birds haven't been in there all year, and today... They're just in. There filling their bellies up. Oh well.

Over the weekend dad and I got started on our blind we've been talking about making for years lol. Still need to build a ramp for the dog to get in and out, get some burlap on it and brush it in. But I'm really happy with how it turned out so far.

Good luck tomorrow gentlemen! I don't have any geese to hunt, but we are going to the blind anyways. They may land in there if we are lucky. If not, we will go get breakfast after we build our little lean-to for a back up duck spot.

Meet me at 5:15 I say. Around 5:30 I send a text: "WTF are you two?"

"I just woke up. Give me 20."

"I'm pooping at Mickey D's."

"Well I don't see your truck so you went to the wrong one."

40 minutes behind schedule now. AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!
