At the bottom of the small hill I was on, there's a spring runoff & then an open area that's been used as a food plot. Not to mentioned where I shot my 1st fully antlered buck with my crossbow eons ago. The neighbors kid from yesterday dropped off a front end loader full of corn there yesterday morn. @ 5:30 this evening, there was a big bodied buck down there. It appeared he had a good spread, but without my binos, I couldn't see anything more thru the trees. I grunted & pawes the leaves, but he kept on eating until eventually going back. Soon there was deer coming & going with one doe off to my side that just wouldn't leave. At last light, a high basket racked 8 ptr came up off to my right side & wasn't too sure what I was.He stomped a few times, but he too wouldn't leave. He almost committed to the trail in front & just stayed @ 5 yards out. He calmed down once I was fully blocked by my G blind as he moved around, before gradually going back down. The Evercalm clamped to a tree out front kept him there. It was getting dark all the more when I was able to pack up & spook another 1/2 dozen deer I bet. At least my plan worked.
