Thanks for the well-wishes! The gun is loaded (muzzy), our gear is in the truck, and I won't sleep a wink tonight. Mason, however is already out. We are going to set up on a slightly higher vantage point. If one of the big boys show up, he'll have about a 100 yard shot. He can do it, we shot out to 200 the other day, he's good to 150. I'm packing in a deadshot field pod as well as a long pair of sticks in case he has to stand to shoot. Our treestand is wedge in the middle of an incredible funnel, but I've dreamed of being able to hunt it without creeping all the way in, I think tomorrows ground assault and longer range of a gun may do the trick. Pretty darn excited, just a matter of the right deer reading the script. Best of luck to all of you going out tomorrow!

It is like a new ball game this weekend. Might be "youth gun" but Mason seems more solid than many of the once a year gun shooters that come out of the woodwork as "hunters." Shoot, the kid can probably out shoot practiced hunters. Good luck to you guys. Love to see it happen.

No luck, no deer. Long, boring day. Personally, I'm done. The next one I see that strikes my fancy is getting shot. Mason said the same. Our hopes were pretty high going into today, but after getting skunked again, enough is enough! I've got pretty good properties waiting to be hunted, wasting time on specific deer on a marginal property just doesn't seem fun any more.

I've felt your frustration before and can feel some of it now. Don't loose track that the whole season can change in an instant. Nobody can take the time and planning that you shared with each other. Don't loose track buddy.

Ditto, but the next mature buck that offers either of you a shot I'd still be shootin'! I'm still hoping and praying its one of the big two though! Good luck guys!!!

It's amazing how years ago during the rut I'd see bucks of all sizes cruising and running full bore with their noses to the ground crossing fields and roads in front of me in my travels. Over the past 3-4 years I can count on one hand the amount of sightings that looked like rutting behavior...weird!
