I thought to myself "Dan, the one really glaring insufficiency in your arsenal is the lack of a revolver. If you had the right revolver you could call your aresenal complete. Anything else you add would be just gravy."

So I do some thinking, do some talking it around, go feel up a few, and have settled on my revolver:
The Ruger GP100, .357 with a six inch barrel.

It feels good. Big enough to do anything I want.
I can't explain it, but I don't have to; my brethren understand what I mean when I say "It just feels right."
Those who don't understand - I feel something akin to pity for them.

I bought the leather at the Deer Expo. Shamrock Holsters. Fits like a glove. Had the leather before the pistol came in. When I went to pick it up I walked in wearing the empty holster and said "Fill 'er up!"

I really, really like shooting this gun.
Really.
Alot.

Welcome to wheel guns, I love mine.

Nice purchase. I however will disagree that your arsenal is incomplete...or, as you put it, it's going to be sweet to add some nice gravy!

Dan-What an outstanding addition to your tool box. I am quite happy you have bonded to it by feel. (There is no better way.) A revolver is a timeless piece that will serve you well for the rest of your life as well a make a fine heirloom to pass down. Congratulations!
I look forward to sharing time with you on the range.

Once again however, I feel obligated to say there may be additional tools you will find to (shall we say)"enhance" your box as time goes on... Once you start down the road of shooting, there will always be the chance of adding "just one more. lol

You have made a fine selection... What have you named it?

Sweet piece Danno!

That Ruger is a reloaders dream. Stout bastards for sure.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to working up a load for it, but all I gotta do is ask my FFL guy - he's got it down.

When I picked up the piece I brought a box of .357 target and also a box of .38 special with me - my guy has a shooting berm outside and I knew I'd want to put some rounds thru it as soon as I could. Before I headed out he gave me five shells that he'd loaded to try. Shooting offhand at 10 yds, two of the shots were touching each other and a third was close enough that I could cover all 3 with the spent shell casing. The other two were within an inch of that. And I'm a shitty pistol shot.

I have been waiting to see this since you bought the holster at the Expo. Niiiice! Never saw myself as a wheelgun kind of guy. Ironically, I do own several and will probably be buying another. Erin shot my buddy's 357 Ruger and loved it. She shot it better than my semi-auto pistols. Guess that means I will be buying her one. I want to feel comfortable if she is home and I am not. She could hold her own, but a little more confidence in herself gives me a little more confidence in her.
