I am looking to buy a .243. Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on anything. I will be using it for groundhogs, coyote and anything else. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

I've got the ruger 77 in .243 very accurate with 58 grain vmax hornady hand loaded rounds out too 200 hundred yards.... If I'd do it over I'd of went with the bull barrel....

I looked at that! I'm bouncing around between the ruger, Remington's 783 and a Marlin 243.

I have a Savage in 243 and it is a tack driver out to 300yrds. I'm shooting hand loads, Nosler 70gr ballistic tip with 37gr of IMR 4895.

Didn't think of savage! Do you guys know much about the Remington's or Marlins, if there good or not?

I have to agree with J on this one, Savage or Ruger are well built guns and it's hard to beat the Savage Accu Trigger out of the box.

I have a Rem 700 in .243. My dad bought it for me in 2003. Its accounted for groundhogs from 50-475 yards. Not as impressed with the newer Rem though.

I have a 243. Remington 7600. It is actually a pump gun. Seems these were a hit or miss model. Either they were a shooter out of the box or not. Mine is a shooter. Were I shopping for new I would probably look at Savage. Maybe Howa?

I have a Howa in 204 and it's a shooter.

Haven't looked at the savage or newer rugers in a while, I've always liked the fit and finish for the money on the rugers..... Accuracy they're about the same with a little more advantage going with the accutrigger....

They have entry level rifles that are pretty basic, but the higher end ones are as nice as ever.

We have the Predator version in 223. Hard to beat for the money. If my budget was under $400 I would get it. If over $600 I would be buying a Savage with the accutrigger.

I've found the Savage rifles to be the most accurate out of the box of any make made. They may look funky with the barrel nut but they work.

I have the MK77 nice wood and finish on that gun.... Topped it with a leupold 4x12

A buddy of mine has a Browning Medalion X Bolt in 243, it's one nice rifle.

I have two savages one in 223 and one in 22 250 both manage dime size five shot groups at 100 yds. My only input is don't go with a heavy barrel if your planning on carrying it a long ways coyote hunting. The are great off the bench and shooting hogs but suck to carry on long hikes. For the money savage is hard to beat IMO.
