Pics of Coop, that goose retrieve was a 200yd + blind. Bird sailed into the middle of cattails on other side of slough. Pretty proud owner when he came out of the cattails with Goose.

Took the pup to the Vet, to have a sore looked at on his tail that just wouldn't heal last week. They took a piece to send out for testing just as a precaution. Well Friday, I got the news, my little buddy has cancer, I am freaking crushed. Doc, said this is a very rare thing but does happen from time to time. Meeting with Oncologist, this week to look at next steps.

Update on Rip, I dropped him off at Med Vets in Dayton, yesterday the Oncology Department ran tests on him all day. Good News, the cancer is isolated to the spot on his tail. We caught it early so it had not had a chance to spread, they will remove part of his tail to ensure the cancer cannot spread. He is expected to make a full recovery, we will continue with quarterly check ups going forward. He is going to have a tail like a Weimer, but hey maybe it will prevent him from getting cold tail. So next Hunt Test season when you see a stubby tail Lab, that will be Rip......lol Been a real rollercoaster ride for the last few days! Not got to get him healed up and he will still make the trip to NoDak.

Was able to knock one down for the pup, he had a blast running after it and dragging it around. Much to large for him to carry yet. I cut a wing and had an awesome training session with him. Sometimes it's just not about piling them up on the tailgate. He goes in tomorrow to have his tail docked just below the cancerous spot. Doc, said he will be ready to roll again in 14 days. I hope this is the first of many for him!

Rip tail.jpg

Well the Little guy not so little anymore, is through the worst part and on the mend. He is doing very well since having his tail docked, another week and we get the stiches out and he can start being a puppy again. Been tough trying to keep him from playing and getting rowdy. You guys that run Hunt Test will be able to recognize Rip pretty easy at events, as I sure he will be the only lab with no tail. Actually, I gonna start calling him the Rare, Stubbedtail St. John's Pointing Waterdog. Can't wait to get all this behind us and start killin birds.

Poor pup. Luckily the tail doesn't serve much of a purpose. Ha look at the bright side. He won't be knocking stuff off tables and shelves anymore. Glad to see he's doing better

Coop rip.jpgduck.jpgRipper.jpg

The Doc, gave Rip, the all clear on Friday! So, it's been over a month since he's been able to run free or swim. The little guy was impressive, he was doing 65 yd water retrieves on flyer ducks. I worked his butt off this weekend,Oak.jpg love his drive! Got all 4 dogs tuned up on live birds this weekend. Leaving Friday for North Dakota, the migrators are moving down. My buddies all limited out on greenheads yesterday.
