Ended up seeing one buck, a nice 8 point. Was past his ears decent mass and was probably in the mid 120s to 130s. Very cementrical. Had a stare down with what could have been him after getting out of the stand. I could barely make out the silhouette, but could tell it was a deer. Took about 10 minutes for it to move on through.

Awake at 3am with no alarm set. Fell asleep knowing I didn't want to hunt the only stand which works for this wind. The property is good in the rut. Decent amount of does. Too much human traffic. Not enough cover once the crops are off. Right now. . . the crops are off so not enough cover. I don't have a camera hung. I have been in this woods once in the last 6mo. I am trying to justify or talk myself into hunting one of the other stands which doesn't work on this wind. I know better than to do so. Since it is nearly 4am now and I am wide awake. . . I am going to lay it up. Swing for just short of the green, play it safe, don't swing for the green, and hunt the stand I doubt I see a "good" buck. You just never know. When I took a ride through this woods earlier this week, there didn't appear to be as much human sign in the woods. The corn just came off this week. It is possible a decent buck is holed up in there and hasn't been pushed out yet. Self discipline sucks. Getting in the woods with no expectations just for the love of hunting. . . .That in itself is rewarding! Good luck to those heading out today.

Boy howdy! Was that ever a clumsy entrance! Snapped every stick on way in. Got in stand. Pulled on bow rope. Quiver hung up. Mental note to Phil on exit: don't step down from tree and break the 2 arrows that fell out. Lol

It's usually when nothing is going right that everything ends up coming together lol. Good luck!

Hope you are right Isaacorps. At least I can sit here and laugh about it. I was like Cramer from Seinfeld making an entrance this morning. Wonder if that is why I haven't seen a deer yet? Lol

Me too J. Must be in the lock down phase of rut already. Lol

I did see 4 turkeys. Two with 4-6" beards and two with 9-12" beards. Last two were monster gobblers. Probably 23-25lbs. uploadfromtaptalk1444307744907.jpguploadfromtaptalk1444307785500.jpg

Found my does. Momma and two youngins. Stopped when I noticed a fresh and monstrous track in the mud. I turned to see what direction they went. Look up and 3 does were watching me. Maybe 30yds away. Had I continued walking they wouldn't have budged. I hate blowing out deer on the way in or out. Good to know there has been a big bodied deer in the area in the last day or two. It was fresh and it was a huge hoof print.

Might try it again tonight. With rain moving in overnight, I thought this morning would be good. Maybe it will be tonight.

Sure makes you wonder how many a year we actually walk past without knowing LOL!

Setup for the evening on the ground over looking alfalfa and corn... Here's hoping the big momma shows herself in the alfalfa this time lol.... All the bucks I've scouted are nonexistent at the time... They'll be back here in a couple weeks hopefully lol

See up in an awesome spot. Front moving in. Hoping for good early movement. Visibility sucks. If it happens it will be fast. Phone is going away. Saw 2 great rubs on way in. Made a line past my stand at 20yds. Sweating like mad doesnt help the questionable wind.
