I hung a new set on some public land this afternoon and hunted it just to see if anything would happen. No deer but I did see my first fox from a treestand which was pretty cool

Guess I was wrong. I thought for sure something was going to die tonight for the TOO gang. My excitement? Had a deer I call Muley come in. Didn't think I was going to shoot him but came to full draw as a practice run. Was hoping when he came into better view he might look better. He didn't. Very nice buck. Not quite what I am looking for. Then he did the worst thing ever, he stopped while I was at full draw and pinned me at full draw. My muscles were burning like mad. Ended up seeing 4 deer total. All bucks. All one or two year olds.

You guys are shooting deer with 70# bows and crossbows with rages and aren't getting pass throughs!!! My girlfriend got a pass through with a 38# recurve last week. Time to open your eyes and pick a decent broadhead! There I stirred the pot for you Phil. Lol.

Lol! Which decent broadhead does she use? I've never used Rage, something about them never quite set right with me. They seem a bit too surgical. Not saying they're bad, I just prefer something a little heftier. Same reason I prefer aluminum over carbon bolts, more kinetic energy. Again, just preference. NOT stirring the pot 😜

I'm not saying a rage won't pass through a deer. I'm just saying you better hope it doesn't hit anything somewhat hard. She was shooting a 125 grain bear razor head 2 blade.

Stingers and snuffers are good heads also.
Guess when they say rage in the cage they mean it stays in the cage once it hits bone.
Like Taylor said thats i believe 3 or 4 deer hit this season so far with rage that didnt do so well.
Get a good cut on contact head.
But not saying deer dont get lost by those also but on a margnal hit i will take a solid cut on contact head anyday.

They perform perfect on perfect shots. All other shots they're use at your own risk. Any shot demanding the slightest bit of performance from the head is going to lead to far less performance than desired or required. We see this season after season with rages.

In the stand for the 1st time this year. Man it feels like a good morning! Literally dead silent in the woods right now. Goodluck to everyone that's out. Stay safe and shoot straight!

Hunted yesterday evening before Friday night football. Had an 8 that we've been getting on camera sneak in behind me. Shithead caught me by surprise. Not a shooter but a solid buck.

This morning the woods is alive! Had turkey roosted in a tree about 10 yards in front of me. Got to watch them fly down and putt around for awhile. Three gobblers came over and were in full strut. Felt like spring!

Got in about 545 this morning, jumped one on the way in. She blew and took off. About 45 minutes ago I think she came back. Came within twenty feet, blew and took off again. Smoked my clothes last night, applied every calm this morning. Frustrating. But it's a beautiful morning out here.
