No idea what this is!

I was putting some corn out when I stumbled upon these marks on a tree, is it a beginning of a rub or something else?

Looks like a buck started to rub his antlers on it and stopped for whatever reason.

Thank! Not fresh enough to where I ran him off, it was about 3pm when I went out so maybe the night before, I had this guy on my camera a few days ago. (Sorry for the bad picture)

It's a rub....likely the brow tines digging in. Bark is either very hard or he didn't spend a lot of time working on it.

I've never seen a bear in NE ohio but who knows! A game warden came by a month ago asking if we've seen a mountain lion around. I have a track that I believe is a coyote but I have no idea.

There's bears in NE Ohio. I believe one was just hit in portage county within the last year. And the GW asked me if I've ever seen one out where I hunt in stark county, apparently someone spotted one during gun season a couple years ago.
