High Mileage Trucks

I think you're safe buying a FULL size truck with high mileage. They build them much tougher than their compact-size counterparts in my opinion. I've had 3 Ford Rangers over the years and only one lasted to 200k miles...and that was the 4-banger with a five speed manual. The auto trans always go to shit in those little trucks. Anyway, as always, do your homework first. Try to find a truck that had single or maybe two owners, with solid maintenance records. Ford or GM Certified would be a good start.

This is neither here nor there, but I'm a Ford guy. I really like the F150 line of trucks. Tundras are nice too but they sure are proud of those fuggin trucks. I'm not a huge fan of Chevy trucks because the interior quality is IMO inferior to Ford's, and they seem smaller on the inside as well. GMC on the other hand seems to make a nice truck...quality seems much better than the Chevys.

Haven't been shopping trucks lately, but that sure does seem like a fair buy. Like Jay said, just get it checked out if you can. Might check into the title. Not that a salvage title would scare me, but if it is substantially less than comparable trucks, I would ask if it was clean title.

They'd have too put that up front on the ad Phil if it were salvage....
And my Z71 was a salvage vehicle and I'd do it again if I had too do it all over again....

Not necessarily. They can market however they want. They would need to disclose it at some point though.

If they disclose it later, it is just dickish. Certain to rub people wrong.

I have called on trucks that seemed 2-3k below market price and asked, then they fessed up.

Looks like a good one to me, Jesse.

KBB is $8,400 for Private Party, Trade-In is $6,600. I'm going to call first thing Monday morning and get some details. My buddy who is a little more mechanically inclined than I am is going to go check it out with me. If this is available and it checks out, I can see it going home with me.

Been driving nothing but light hit 5 repaired salvage cars and trucks since 1996. Only one that wasn't salvage is my pride and joy 2003 Nisson 350Z that I bought in 2010 with 8,000 original miles on it. Now it has 22,000 miles at 13 years old. Daily drive and it's been up North, FL, TN. Wife is driving it today and she looks good in it. She thought it was the dumbest thing I ever bought because it was a 2 seater but my reply 'there's only 2 of us'.

We did do all our own repairs to the salvage cars and trucks. I believe my son, nephew and me did over 15. Not a one was a lemon.
