I'm taking a long time buddy of mine who hasn't been out gun hunting in years.... Bad knees, bad foot and way overweight..... Hoping too get him a shot at one.... He's been in a funk and hoping this will spark something in him..... He hasn't killed a deer in quite some time and I usually give him one of mine if I get extra.... I'll post a picture if I can get him too smile lol....

Your a braver man than I! Good luck, sit still and let the idiots push the deer to you!

Exactly.... Hunt smart, let the other guys move the deer for you....

One thing I've always said, hearing lots of shooting never bothered me.... Usually means the deer are moving.... You can almost hear the deer coming your way by the shots taken....

Good luck to you and your buddy J. Nice of you to get him out. It's funny you say that about the shots. I seem to always end up hearing shots all around me and not see any deer. Sit there scratching my head like, how is this possible? Haha.

I don't think you could pay me to Public hunt during gun season. I know a lot of guys do and are fine but the number of guys I don't know hunting around me with guns scares the hell outta me.

If you have a climber, get up a tree. Better vantage point and you'll see the deer coming. It's a bit safer being up high too.

I just left walmart picking up a few things and was going to get a new orange vest because the one I have has become a bit too small. The hunting section was packed with gun hunters getting licenses and tags and other stuff. Not even gun season yet and I'm already annoyed.

I set up a few stands last week for my nephew that goes to college up here now and my buddy Donnie. I'm still not seeing a lot of sign but I did trap 17 coon from the 1 stand that I bait so I thinned out the corn thieves. I will be out there too with the encore watching the thicket

Good luck

I have been in Walmart the night before gun season before. It always makes me chuckle watching them. Stock up on buck jam, minerals, doe pee, slugs, and every gimmick they think might help them. Truthfully, I wonder if they are wasting their money buying the slugs. Sure is tough to tag a deer if you prepare the night before and haven't stepped foot in the woods since last year. Oh well. Good luck to them. Takes all kinds to make the world go round.

The average deer (gun) hunter out there doesn't put in the time like we do, they're just in it too go out and hopefully drop a deer preferably the booner he's been hearing about in the area.... This doesn't go for the guys who hunt both archery and gun for the most part....

Haha! I'm the same way. I hear these shots and I'm thinking, "must be nice to be seeing deer".

How cool would it be if it were like Hunger Games and every time a deer is shot a pic gets posted in the sky like when the tributes die? Then we'd know what bucks were harvested. Somebody invent that!

Great thread! Good luck to all! For the afternoon hunt, my 5 year old daughter will be in a blind with me for her first time..can't wait! Only for hunting right now, so no real pressure and Incan let her lead the way regarding time on stand. My goal is a good experience for her!
