This is the norm, not many tell anyone the truth about any buck they kill.
Really can't anymore. Too many assholes that spread bullshit rumors. When I killed my buck on opening day the asshole that lives 400 yards up the gas line was telling a couple people that I might of killed it on his property because he had him on camera the day before. Really asshole, a deer can cover 400 yards in 2 minutes lol

The one photo looks to be at either a taxidermist or butcher shop. The white jacket makes me think, butcher.

All I can say is I hope the kill is on the up and up. I see no reason to crucify this guy until there is reason to warrant doing so. The last thing, we as hunters, need is another black eye over a world class trophy buck.

And hicks, not in a park. A city limits area where deer are commonly watched.
Here's order of what I'm saying.
1.Deer shot. Story claims shot on x road 3-4 miles south of town.(my road)

2. Day before deer shot, hunter who killed deer had a friend who spotted and posted on fb that he saw this buck with the hunters brother in this city limit area.3-4 miles away from where it was said to be shot a day later.

3. Trail can pics came flying out of this deer just north of the main city limits area this deer has been seen at.

I gotta say you really lost me here! lmao

........but I get that there are some potential red flags here. Still gonna wait this one out for solid facts as to where he was killed and how before labeling him a liar and a poacher.

4. I posted to point out the obvious lie that this deer was not killed on my road. Or by it. Then added my opinion that there are fishy things about this deer. Never said he poached it. Just that the story does not make sense to the people who know this deer.

Mature deer do travel several miles if not further for several reasons and I've seen them slip up and do some pretty stupid stuff as well so getting killed 3-4 miles away from where he feels comfortable(core area or wherever) shouldn't be the sole reason to debunk what this guy has actually said as to where he killed him! Just sayin....

It only takes one small thing to happen to make a buck pack up and leave the area.

Stud of a deer and i congradulate him.no proof of any wrong doing no need to critisize him.everything will come out.

If i had to go through this again with the call in system i wouldnt let anyone know for a few weeks.unfortunately we didnt have the call in system when i shot my biggest deer and there were people at the check in station when i went there, and everyone with a cell phone had a pic of it.with the call in system u could keep it quiet if u wanted

Inquisitive. Suspicious. Presumptuous. Speculative. Quizzical. Just to name a few.

Wow quite the thread this turned into. After everything I've read and all the speculation I'd say there's a combination of it all including jealousy in this situation. Let's just say that if I had a little slice of heaven to hunt that bordered that area legally I sure as hell wouldn't say where it is...I'd say I killed it on my 5 acres in Michigan before I'd do that! Cannot blame a guy whatsoever for doing that. Call him what you want. Late season like this I could see a deer travel a long ways for whatever reason because Diablo and I have been trading a buck back and forth for a few years now, well over a mile away. That deer has left our property every year for the last 3 that I know of around the end of October and returned usually late January or early February to stay throughout the summer.

Short of solid proof that this buck was taken illegally, and none has surfaced yet, this guy is being smart by trying to protect himself and his spot from every wanna be bone collector from swarming in.

This.

I haven't read every response in this thread and don't see me catching up on it any time soon. If he lied about where it was kill, but it was killed legally on all fronts, then kudos to him for throwing people off the trail. Lord knows there's plenty of unscrupulous keyboard jockeys out there that would attempt to move in on him.

And if there's some illegal activity involved that resulted in the killing of this buck, shame on him. I'm neither surprised, nor impressed. This whole thing serves as another shining example of why I could care less to kill a deer this size and this well known. It's not worth the BS that follows...

I have never told the truth about where I've killed any of my bucks unless it was to a close friend who I completely trust.

My respond when asked? "In the woods." Or, "at a farm out the road".

I'm not giving up my spot.

Did he do this legally or illegally? Who knows? But just because he's no saying an exact spot doesn't mean he took it in city limits.

I know one thing, it seems every giant buck killed puts the Hunter under scrutiny.

Based on the time of year, yeah... It's possible, but you never know where these suckers will roam to.

How many articles have we read about deer having multiple "home ranges" which vary throughout the year? How many guys on here have had a deer like clockwork, then it simply vanishes only to show up miles away? Or have one vanish and show back up months later? It is late season. It is not hard for me to believe with being pressured all deer season, something minor could make him skip out of his home range. It isn't hard to believe in the late season with different weather fronts/food sources, a winter range can move.

I'm done here. I hope it was taken legit. If not, I hope it is avenged by the law.

Sounds like a very well planned out deer drive happened, and it worked!

This thought crossed my mind. I know some old boys who put on a couple mile deer drives. Guys know a world class buck is around. All of his buddies get together and do a slow push. . They know roughly where this buck is. Why not try to push him out at the end of the year? It's possible....

Same here. Or if I do, I lie!

I don't think that would of been possible where this buck was at.
