Thank you all for the tips. I know the one guy who lives there permanently has taken him to court a few times. I think jail time will be helpful but it isn't his first time going to jail I don't think. He used to have an old guy who lived back there and he watched the cows, he died last year so now its a free for all.

Joe- I like the idea of small claims court. Between myself and the other guy we could sue him for 1000s of dollars.

PS: I have a bunch of other cattle farms around me. IDK how many head but they own 1000s of acres, never once had them get out.

Id like to just buy the land from the guy, IDK how the fugg Id get rid of all the old cars! haha

honestly this could be easily achieved, especially with the other neighbor. He has a lot more damages than I do!

Thinking outside the box(pen), not starting anything as the guy is def in the wrong. Think about this, how much land do you got, is it feasible to run a fence around your property serving several solutions at the same time. I know it,s not your place to keep his cows in his place. I,m just say what i would be thinking,not only would you be keeping unwanted cows out but you would also be marking a property line for anyone trespassing giving you something to argue when someone is caught on your property(did you not see the fence) Sounds like this guy has always been and will be imposable to deal with. After the cost of several years of lost plots and feeders plus screwed up days of hunting,the cost may be cheaper

I like the idea of buying the property off the guy. I'd ask him about it, maybe he would sell it. I'm sure someone would come get all the cars. Hell, I would be interested in one. Always wanted to make a deer blind out of one. Just thought it'd be cool.

I'm guessing "Country Law" is the only way you will get anything out of this guy. But then you have the retaliation factor to deal with if you are unable to keep it covert.

On a lighter note...this bruiser found my summer feeding station a few years back. Sometimes barriers are not enough. He could walk right through any fence he wanted too.

I had problems with escapee cows in preble county when I hunted there . I was told once they are out for 10 days they're fair game . I had a friend of a friend tell me he'd hang it for me after hours at the butcher shop he owned , also had the neighbor landowner offer use of their backhoe to get the damn thing out . I never did shoot one ...But damn well should of .

I was looking through the Ohio Revised Code as I remember years ago reading how many days it was before an animal was considered feral and fair game. It had pigs and cows listed. Couldn't find it though.

I wish in the game of life you could pick your neighbors...... but you can't. For some reason I attract idiot neighbors that have no common regard for other's than themselves.

Over the years in my neighborhood quarrels.....

In small claims court (up to $3k I believe) its up to the Defendant to decide whether he wants to pay the Plaintiff or not. The judge can rule in your favor however its up to the Defendant to decide if he's willing to open up his wallet for you or not. Next step after would be to put a lien on his property and someday when he sells or dies you will be compensated. Meanwhile you're racking up court costs, judgment liens, and attorney fees personally.

Chances are you'll open up a case for $ 50.00 with the Courts as the Plaintiff and the Defendant would "no show" on his summons leaving you with a judgment and your out Fifty bucks.

If you want to open a can of worms...send him a Cease and Desist letter. There are templates available on line. Chances are it will fall upon deaf ears or carry some repercussions. Its best to lay low and ignore under these circumstances.

This neighborhood had this issue a few years ago. One dead cow hung from a tree at the edge of the road for a few months. (June July August). The guy got the point.

well the cows are still out or were 2 days ago.

The sheriff and myself are good buddies now hahaha I was told by the neighbor that they did a force sale and the cows are now gone. Boy do I hope so, I am tired of having cow shit all over the place!

4 cows running around causes a lot of problems!

I told the Sheriff that if anything happens I will be sending all bills to him (cow owner), and I cannot have this happening anymore. Next I heard cows were gone. I hope this take care of it!

the farm we take care of had this problem the owner wanted to play farmer, hes a high dollar lawyer. we always got calls about the cows being out and many time were out there putting them back in all through the night the neighbor did shoot the big bull and they went to court over it he lost his right to have animals on the farm for a certain amount of time. all the landowners around there hated him for it we chased them for over 3 weeks one time and couldnt get them back in ended up spring loading a gate and filling a feeder up when they walked through the gate shut behind them.
