Killed my first one of the year last week with the .17

Maybe 60 yards. I carry both my 223 and 17 in the truck and use 17 for out to 75 yards and 223 for any farther. I've noticed that the wind can make a huge difference on the 17 on farther shots.

Bad thing about a super light bullet, it don't handle the wind very well.... But still fun to watch em drop from that little round.... I'm the same with the .22 mag.... I've lost track of the hogs dropped by that gun....
I've not tried the .223 on hogs yet as I'm having to much fun with the .243.... One of these days though lol

Sitting on my grandpas deck last night and drinking a few cold ones with him when I spotted a hog in one of the fields. I told him to get me a rifle, he comes out with a wooden stock, bull barrel ruger chambered in 204... Nice gun but heavy as heck! Anyway, 176 yard shot on a GIANT groundhog!

well my cousin shot another one last night, and I shot another one tonight. Here is mine. That is 4 off the same field this year.

17 hmr, hornady Vmax, 75 yards, one shot, one kill.

200 yard broadside shot... Those VMax are wicked rounds lol..

Hit a second farm and had a coyote pop up over a knoll but it saw me before I could get a bead on him and ducked into a tree line and was gone..... Another 2 seconds and he'd of had a VMax headed his way... Tomorrow is another day lol...

Vmax are my preferred rifle bullets (anything smaller than 308).

He was about half the size of a normal one down there lol... Probably this years batch, but it did do a number on him.... Just can wait to see what it does to a yote....
