You'll need to talk with someone who's got the 5.7 as you'll probably need that for what you're towing... CJD3 has that in a TRD with way more bells and whistles then me...

Dave, you are going to find payload capacity an issue. 2016 Tundra max towing is 10,500lbs, which is also going to be an issue if you really weigh in at 10k. I bet you find ure close to 8500-9k.

While payload is not a legal number if you go over, not going to be fun. Trailer weight is a legal number. Minimum tonuge weight should be 10%, so youre looking at 900-1k lbs already. Throw in the family and other inside cargo and you only have 100-200lbs left in bed. Not a Toyota problem, its a 1/2 ton vs size of camper problem. Can you do it and can the truck do it, yeah. But its not fun and you wont be winning any races or keeping components from being overworked. No worries if you are only going to haul it a limited amount.

That's the argument I'm having with myself Adam. I really want a long bed TOO... Probably end up with a newer GM with a 6.2 if I do anything at all. I just like the reliability of the Yota's.

My 2010 Tundra gets about 13 around town and 17 or so highway. Pretty much sucks hind-titty for mileage. Maybe they've improved something over the last 6 years? I've personally never pulled much over a couple ton with it so really can't comment on a heavy load. 55k on it and ain't had one lick of trouble.

Crawl under one and you'll be hooked...

Kinda like Adam said, I don't like running down the road at max loads. We are planning a couple of out of state camping trips for the upcoming summers. So we will see. I need to get it on the scale to see what I actually weigh first off. Then I'll probably tell the dealer I want to hook onto my camper first before buying. If they say no, then I look elsewhere.

Who knows...maybe I'll keep my truck for just a tow rig and buy a Taco for my DD. the wife doesn't like that idea, but I sure do.

Little update...

Been doing A LOT of "looking" the last week. Getting pretty serious about this.

Toyota...it just isn't going to work. Not enough bed and you can only seat 5.

GM has some good discounts going right now. 12-25% off! I want the 6.2l but for whatever reason they only offer it in the Denali package...

Dave, what other trucks seat six? Configuration? 3 and 3?
Mine has the available seating for 3 in the front.... won't be the most comfortable buts it's there.... Just curious...

Finally found something I liked...

I wish it was silver and a long bed, because the pic would be in my driveway.

Spent Saturday and Sunday installing a rough country 3-4" lift on a 2003 Silverado 2500HD. Pretty easy job until it came to removing the torsion bars. They were seized up in the torsion keys. Took a couple hours each to heat them up good and then hammer them out with the sledge. Everything else was as expected. The A arms are always a pain but came out without too much trouble. All in all was a good time. The truck belongs to my buddy's son. He worked hard and saved up to buy the truck so it was a good feeling to help him out. He is 18 a senior in high school and bought it on his own. He was also a close friend of Connor's. After all was done we bolted on his new wheels and tires. They are Gear 22" by 12" wheels wrapped with Nitto Terra Grapplers 305 55 22's.

He is going to send me a whole side view this afternoon as well as a before pic. I will post both once I get them to show the difference in stance. With the 1" rear blocks we added it gives it a nice level stance.

The angle he took these pics make it look a little odd. He is standing up on a set of stairs pointing down. Said it was the only way he could get far enough back to get the pic in his garage.

Look forward to seeing the additional pictures. Hats off to you for helping a buddy and boy who "earned" this truck!

Just curious, how many miles and how many sets of injectors? I am a prior LB7 owner and I always find it interesting to see this info between trucks.
