Where To Send Letter For ODNR?

I would think an email to the wildlife council would be your best bet since they make the decisions.

I wrote a brief letter about a few concerns I have about the local deer herd. I tend to be a glass is half full type of guy. I didn't write a very negative letter. I did however share observations/concerns with them in the note.
One of my biggest concerns are nusciances tags that are passed out. I would like to know when, why, and how these are issued. I believe there is one "farmer" that is hammering the deer around our farm and that is effecting everyone within a square mile.

ya joe, I doubt ill hear anything from it but it was worth a shot to just vent I guess.
I know it will never happen. But would be nice if we could get EVERYONE together and not buy a single tag or license for a year. Hit them like they did us and build our herd at the same time. OK...Rant Over...:smiley_coolpeace:
Guys, I'm telling you, It doesn;t take everyone to make a difference, just one or two to start something good.
With time and conversations others will get on board.
It also doesn't take a big area to make a difference. If you can control 100 acres or more you will see results with a little patience. For every deer you don't shoot is a chance for survival.
I know it's hard to let them walk in hopes no one will shoot them on another property. just a chance you have to take.
Guys I have seen what not taking but one deer (this year) on a 80 acre track will do in only four years.
This is land that is close to amish land (don't have to tell you about that) Yes we get fustrated siting and hearing gun shots thru out the year. Some of our good deer go missing,never to be seen again. But we have seen a good increase in our heard over the years.
Four years ago i had doubts about keeping this track, Now i love hunting it, there are still times i get fustrated, then the cameras show me what we have in there.
Talked with the local officer two years ago about gun shots out of season,and watching what i know was deer being shot out of gun season, His response was oh well thats just the locals not much we can do about it.
Deer management on our land starts with me, then trickles down to others.
WE as hunters holds the wild card, not the state.
After the buck i killed this year, and eating steaks on the grill, I would love to get a few more (damn they are good) but we won;t take what the land will not sustain.
Hopefully in a couple more years i will take a doe, not time for that yet, unless i see one that is old and needs to be taken out of the heard.

Just curious if Nick thought this to and will be carrying that message into his new national and international roles?
I can't speak for him on what carries over to NDA, but I will say that he believes in the power of the hunter. When hunters are engaged, organized and vocal they're a force to be reckoned with. When it comes to influencing policy, hunters have to be involved in the process. That means writing letters, making phone calls, showing up at meetings and have a clear, consistent and well thought out message. It doesn't happen just once by going to an ODNR open house or sending one person a letter. It happens by staying engaged and in contact with the people making policies all year round. They have to know that hunters are going to hold them accountable. Facebook, forum and email rants are too easily dismissed.
Thanks Sean, but wasnt askkng for you to speak for him. Just curious if there were any insights to whether this was at the state level only or if this logic can be applied to the national and international levels. No doubt a well organized group can make a difference as one voice. I find it hypocritical to bitch on forums and social media but dont try for a collective approach or do more than sit behind a keyboard.
I gotcha ya, no worries. I think with NDA being new and a small organization it will take a while to see. It will be extremely difficult to get involved in the deer management practices of all 50 states. Well, I don't know if Hawaii has deer besides Axis deer so maybe it's 49 states. Lol.
