I looked into them but I've been with SF so long USAA can't beat them..... Back when I was about 23 I bought a 2001 Z28 Camaro.. Married at 23 with a 2 door sports car, no tickets or wrecks, my SF rate was around 650 every 6 mo.. I called USAA for a comparison... Quoted 1,675 every 6mo... ROTFLMAO.. No thanks!

Even today with my insurance being WAY cheaper on my truck, they are about 30 bucks more expensive for me..

That's funny because in 98 I dropped SF because they couldn't come close to USAA. I believe I saved $75 a month.

Was that around the time you got your commission?

Since it was in December of 98 it was just a little over a year before I picked up warrant officer. I wasn't actually a commissioned officer until 18 months later when I picked up chief warrant officer two. When your a lowly warrant your on "probation" for 18 months..... You 'd be surprised how many guys get weeded out in that time (DUI's, banging enlisted chicks, lying, and etc).

The reason I ask is because USAA was going more by "rank" than accident, ticket history etc. A 22yo Pvt and A 22yo Lt could get the same sports car, and with all things the same the Lt would pay a drastically lower price.. Initially USAA was only for officers etc. Then they opened it up to everyone. Dumb Pvts started costing them money and they jacked the rates on them.
