lol.... I was thinking the same thing Ben.... With all the ag fields we have they don't even look at em when they're dropping.... Good fence row cover but that's the extent of it unless you're into making stick bows....
Haha yea I never thought of it that way. There is no agriculture around me at all, that's why my food plots here always get mowed down so fast. I mean they litterally heard to them things here.

Here in central Ohio I have never seen evidence that a deer would even look at one of those things much less actually eat it.
Also, I've seen hunting shows that talk about a hot sorghum tree. I've only seen evidence of deer eating those a couple times and it was very late season.

I've seen hedge apples eaten by deer or other critters nearly every time I see them by seasons end. I wouldn't set up and hunt over a hedgerow as I think deer just eat them every so often kinda like one of the many other things they browse on. Everybody gets tired of the "same ole same ole" diet from time to time and I imagine deer and other critters are no different.
Only animal I've ever seen eat them is squirrel. I have a number of those trees...even a couple of years ago during that real cold winter, deer didn't touch them.
they eat them here as fast as they fall and hit the ground, but there isnt much food to choose from around here. 2 of my biggest buck bow kills was from hunting a single osage orange tree by a thicket and when the deer would hear one fall a deer will run out and eat it most of the time as soon as it falls lol. then the edges of my driveway are solid osage lines and the deer just heard to those things and clean them up every night and then more fall through the day and come next morning every one is gone again.
maybe they only eat them in places where they dont have much other options for food?
Wow, that's interesting! They must love em and not have much to choose from in your area. I'd be carrying a few with me and chuckin them when the wind is perfect and I see a shooter nearby. :smiley_coolpeace:
Lol i believe it, there is so much good food out that way they have no need to mess with them things.
