You shouldn't have to do much fleshing on a yote, Jim. Nothing that requires an actual fleshing knife. Just trim off any meat you left on it and rub it down with some borax.

I have a good friend who's a pretty knowledgeable trapper, so I was thinking I'd just save it until he has time to show me what's necessary to flesh and board it. My dad told me the same thing too though, that coyotes don't require much fleshing.

Jim the cheapest place to get one done is Moyle Mink and Tannery. Less than 1/2 what a Taxi will charge you. And I have never had any complaints. I take excess meat off and send the rest.

Ahh great to know! What's something like that cost if you don't mind me asking?

Have you sent anything to them lately? I've heard on another forum a few guys having problems with them. I'm guessing with fur prices being low they might be getting swamped with critters but I haven't sent anything to them in years. I will say they always did a nice job with the few things I sent

A friend of mine sent a red one in last year and he had no complaints. Year before, I sent in 4 and all was good. I sure hope the negative info is an isolated case. What were they saying? Anything that could be related to poor fur handling that was blamed on the tannery?

I was just reading about this place. They are NOT a tannery. They are a middle man to a tannery. They actually make garments from the furs. If you go on www.trapperman.com. and ask about them, I guess there are some horror stories about their work. Sorry Joe but just relaying what I read. They went on to say Moyle is much better. I imagine there is good and bad no matter where you send your things.

I don't doubt there are some bad reviews . Every business has them. Especially in the fur industry because the majority of their result depends on the person doing the skinning and fur handling before they even get it. People send in wet hides that sat on the carcasses for three days and then complain when the fur slips.

But they are the only place that I've seen where you can send your furs to have them fleshed, tanned, and made into whatever you want. They make everything from teddy bears to king sized bedspreads, gloves, hats and coats. For example if you wanted to have them take your Fox pelts and make your wife a coat. They'll charge you around $600 bucks. To buy a fox fur coat off the rack at the store you're talking 3k+
