So what are everyone's thoughts on the antics within the NFL with protesting The National Anthem? Allegedly, on pages A62-63 of the leagues, game operations manual, the league has defined expectations for The National Anthem. Though I cannot locate the actual manual online to site/link to, if this is accurate, the league has some explaining to do if fines, suspensions, etc. aren't handed out after the escalation of tensions this weekend...

Reports indicate the manual states:

“The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. “During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

I have no intentions of attending or watching future games at this point. What are the thoughts from others here?

I feel everyone has a right too their opinion and a right of free speech.... You also have the right to protest what you feel is unfair to you, your cause, race or whatever it is you feel is unfair... If the league has a policy then the players are breaking said policy and need reprimanded for it...

Just because you want to protest doesn't mean that protest comes without ramifications.... If the NFL won't rain the behavior in (they're on the clock, playing in a public paid for stadium ) then as fans we can put a stop to it... I for one no longer watch the NFL and lots of people are doing the same... Hit em where it hurts.... Money.... Don't provide any too them in the form of merchandise or watching or going to any games... My wish is to see them bankrupt due to their inactions...

Well said. I too believe that one of the freedoms I served to protect is free speech. With that right comes responsibility though. If there are indeed rules that were broken they should be enforced.

I also have the right to free speech. I still get chills every time the national anthem is played. I cannot imagine not standing and showing respect for our colors. I get ticked when I see guys not take their hats off for the playing of our anthem. I have been known to express my free speech to those people.

I say fuck them rich little pricks! The very rights we stand for gave them their fam. The least they can do is stand up and give Old Glory some respect!
