I have a 2 part question for you guys,
1) how often do you guys wash your hunting clothes? I wash mine about once every 3 or 4 sits but I had a small buck get down wind of me today and he busted me. Didn’t blow or anything but put his head up, sniffed, took a few steps and sniffed again then bounced back off.
2) was thinking about trying to smoke my clothes like some of you guys do. Where do you get your chips from and are there any kind in particular that you guys like to use over another kind and where do you get them?

1.) This depends for me. Early season when it's warm out and I sweat a little more I will wash my clothes after a day of hunting. Once the temp drops and I am not sweating I will wash them after a couple days of hunting.

2) any hardwood chips will work. You can get them from Walmart , TSC , Rural King or wherever.

I wash mine when I feel it needs it. Weather I sweat in them, got blood on them, was in a hurry and stopped at the store on my way home. No particular order, whenever I feel fit to wash, they get washed.

Chips can be had at any store that sells grills or smokers. Or amazon

Any place that sells charcoal usually has chips - I like hickory, my buddy Ben prefers apple, it really doesn't matter at all.
I get mine at Kroger or Walmart.

Like Dave said, as long as they feel clean and smell smoky, no need to wash

Where did you all get your smokers from I have been hanging mine over my pellet grill not sure if it works right and would like to cook in it soon and don't think I want that smell on my clothes

Last evening my dumbass wore too many top layers while doing a hang and hunt. Got a sweat going putting the stand up. Smoked up real good prior to going out. Had 4 does downwind, a 130" 8 point and another buck. None of them smelled me. Smoke up.

The scent smoker is no longer sold. Search for "bee smokers" on eBay.

I wash my clothes after every hunt as I just can't stand putting on pre-worn clothes. I use any old detergent that is dye and perfume free (not the $$$ stuff marketed to hunters) and have the wife switch over to it for all our clothes a little while before season.
I don't smoke up, so no help there..... And deer do get down wind of me too without spooking. Not all of them of course, but the real key there is to carefully consider your stand placement so it is not a frequent occurrence anyhow. Never chance the wind, even if you feel you have 'covered' your scent.

I manage my clothes in a similar fashion as Iowa buckeye. I use the non scent soap and spray down regularly . I personally don't rely nor trust any of it. Using the wind and terrain to my advantage is my number one priority. I've been winded with optimal scent control many times. I've had them walk right by me down wind at the end on a one week hunt no scent control and never wind me. I know through my experience of running dogs there are optimal and poor scenting conditions. Same happens to deer. Just do your best to minimize your scent and pay attention to thermals and wind direction. It will save you some money to.

A pellet stove won't cut it chief. You have to get a good quantity of thick smoke on your clothes and yourself. Smoke is not only a cover scent but it is antimicrobial. Hands hair armpits neck anywhere there is exposed Skin is my rule.
