Cars...hatem’ but need one

Like the title says, I’m a serious truck guy but it doesn’t make sense for me to be driving one every day. So a few months back I got out of a HD truck and got her something practical. I took over her car (Dodge Journey) for my daily driving and have hated the thing since day one. It didn’t matter because it was hers...now, it’s mine and I hate it even more. Zero fun to drive, rolls in corners, no balls, just sucks. Sure it’s a reliable A to B rig and I’ve got by. Just looking forward to what to look for. I drive 200 miles a day right now for work...that’s 4 hours I’m bored outa my mind in this damn thing.

Anyone have or had anything good on fuel and still fun to drive? I don’t mind looking for a while to buy right, but I don’t know shit about cars. I know I hate this one and have only owned one other car in my life. It was an 05’ Buick, I wouldn’t mind buying another one of those.

Also thinking I could do fine with a 2wd truck of some sort...IDK...

WRX would be fun, just not practical.

You don't have to tell me brother. When I got rid of that piece of shit Cadillac, which by the way was a blast to drive, we got her a Dodge Dakota Limited and I took her old car. Which is logical because this car is paid off and it only has 95k on the dash. It gets 29 miles to the gallon as compared to my car which got 19 which is good because I drive a hundred miles a day. This is the first vehicle I have driven as my daily driver since becoming an adult that had less than 350 horsepower. While it is a soul-sucking piss ant woman's car it does make financial sense.

Flat out sucks...I have no idea how people drive things like this. I just turned 65,000 on the dial...I need something to look forward to. Maybe keep this one for the kids to drive. Takes 17.2947218 miles to get it up to 60 mph.

Oh I get it man, but when I run the numbers it just doesn't make sense. I save about 98 to $100 a month driving this vehicle versus my old one. Add a conservative car or truck payment of 300 a month to that and the cost justification becomes approximately 400 a month to drive something different. While I can afford it, I can't justify it in my own mind. Going with something different doesn't eliminate a need but rather satisfies a want.

Thanks, but I don’t need crazy good mpg. I’d be happy around 20-25 to have some fun when driving.

Also want to add that I made a deal with my wife to stay on 4 wheels until the kids are out of the house. Otherwise....I’d be looking for advice on 2 wheels. It’d be a real fun drive on a bike!

I'm just saying man vehicles are one of the worst Investments you could ever make. They don't actually start paying returns until about a year after you've paid them off due to tag title and loan interest. Buying even a moderately priced car at 20K on a 60 month loan at 3.2% would require approximately 72 months in the vehicle before you would start to see a return on your investment. In our situation it would be an even worse investment because the payment itself would go against us for eventual return.

If I was going to piss 5K a year into the wind I would much rather keep it in my pocket and spend it on a Caribbean vacation every year where I can piss rum into the wind. Lol.

I got a Honda Civic sedan with the turbo. I am getting 40 MPG, it is fun to drive small and a lot easier to park than my truck.

My buddy just rolled up my drive in a 2018 WRX. Turbo charged 6-speed that gets 28-29MPG on the highway. If I had to own a car, that's what I'd buy.
