First evening hunt, not expecting much. More of a scouting with gun just in case 
Had one at 250 yards out in a field, didn’t grab my Binoculars out of the truck, relocated trying cut it off ... one of two ways and it’s a crap shoot....

I left work at 5:15, ran home and grabbed my stuff. Stopped for a moment to talk to land owner and headed to the woods. In the evenings I typically set up along his fields and regularly see birds. I got to the fields and saw nothing out in them. So I decided to cross and sit along an area they roost. As I was crossing the field there is a low spot...that turkeys tend to feed in...sure enough I saw 2 heads. So I dropped down and stuck my strutting decoy in front of me. When they saw it they gobbled and came right towards it. Not a real difficult hunt but a lot of fun.

I zigged it zagged and we never crossed paths... Saw 3 toms and two hens on the way out on property I can’t hunt but can cross to get to another property or my truck.... They were heading to the roost as usual.....

I was on that tree line it was NE of me across that field on that corner where the field goes to the east to the tree farm next door.
The other birds were where we saw them scouting...
Got a few gobbling and strutting in a field about 120 yards from me. Hoping they make their way into the woods so I can shoot one and go home to sleep before work.

Been a rough year here for locating any toms to hunt. Haven’t seen the first one. Took my daughter out and called a Jake in to ten yards. It was her first turkey experience hearing one gobble in her face. She was excited. Let him walk to hopefully survive to next year. Two jakes got killed opening morning on same property. I’ve been watching a bearded hen for the third year by the house now so I decided it was time to go after her. She was out in the field again yesterday and after hearing no gobbles that morning I set up on her. Two other guys were in woods calling like crazy and she came right to me. She had a 6-7” beard and feathers in perfect condition. I have mixed feelings about shooting her but it will be the only one I ever shot and will be a full body mount in the house. I’m not buying another tag. I wish they would make some of the west central Ohio counties one bird only. There were also a group of 8 hens
so the population should be fine.

Damn jakes lol. Fugger strutted and gobbled all the way in, just couldn't do it. He's strutting around a hen in the field now.
