Damn near ran this feller over yesterday with the quad. First one I've seen on the farm this year.

Saw a box turtle today in Jersey... Soon will be seeing alot of snappers either dead on the roads or crossing them..

Check out this video. I usually find a couple every year. I also have found quite a few empty shells, which makes me wonder what is going on?

This is a very interesting study. BTW I have a couple of Boykins, and they are awesome little dogs.

 
I saw 2 this past weekend down at camp. One was half way across Route 7 and the other one was crossing a back road. That one was lucky that I was able to do evasive maneuvers even though I was trucking along with a trailer on the back.

RedCloud.... Snappers are on their own, I'm not touching them buggers, I like keeping all 10 fingers..LOL

Painted turtle, those guys are all over.

I have stopped numerous times throughout the years to pick up turtles off the road,snappers included. One thing I was told is that you should always take them to the other side of the road that they are facing. They are going that way for a reason, probably to lay eggs.
