As much as I love the hills in SE Ohio, I'd still choose 200 acres up here next to Sandusky Bay. I'm a die hard duck hunter, so obviously I'd prefer wetlands. But that same type of habitat is ideal for big old whitetails. I think NW Ohio is some of the most versatile ground in the state when it comes to wildlife habitat. And it's incredibly fertile, so supplementing the mortgage and taxes with ag income, or a CRP/WRP agreement, is a viable option.

I'd choose 200 acres that abuts the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Summit County. I'd have a very large deer factory next door.

Reason I asked is yesterday, I had to go to a funeral. The way we went I had never been or seen the area we drove through. Being in Ohio majority of my life. I realized I really haven’t saw that much. Don’t get me wrong I use to get around. Lol In the future tho I plan on moving not sure where yet. So that’s why I asked. What I do know is I don’t want to be somewhere so flat I can watch my dog run away for two weeks.
I also don’t want to be somewhere where the hills take two hours to climb. I’m getting older and lazier.. I remember being 16 down in Marietta on public land some of those hills then took an hour to get up.Today If I went down that hill, I would probably sleep there and go back up in the morning.
I surely wouldn’t want to drag a deer up it. So I probably wouldn’t even hunt.

I'd love to have that kind of acreage around my way in the NW part of the state. With the right mix of timber and ag fields, we can be hosts of some really nice whitetails up here. Conversely, I do like the rolling hills in the mid/southern part of the state. The feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere while hunting is something you can't really find here.

Logan, Champaign, Licking counties would interest me.
Bellefountaine, Urbana, even the Marysville areas. Licking County historically has about one of the highest numbers of B&C bucks.

If at all possible with the county, can y’all give a little description of the terrain. Some posted I have been in. Currently right now I’m in guernsey county. Big woods rolling hills some places have some big hills but mostly just rolling.
Franklin county would be nice. Except for the big city and people. Most the people I met there, you would think they had an apartment in their ass. They had their head stuck up it so far.
I saw by far the most and biggest bucks there I have ever seen.

Lol, NWdude...every part of the state holds pockets of large deer. Not all areas hold what Lake Erie does...on-in-and around that lake!
It’s also hard to ignore the fact that JB and Adam have been arguing with Joe about deer numbers for years on end....

Valid point. If you live in East, Central, or Southeast Ohio, and you don't think we have enough deer... Don't move to NW Ohio. It ain't for you.
