I hate to be ‘that guy’ but I would look at other places over West Branch. NE Ohio is rough as far as public land goes. Not a lot of land so there’s a whole lot of people utilizing it. If you are going to hunt West Branch or other public land in this area, I would HIGHLY recommend getting a small boat and trying to access via water. It’s a pain to do but a lot of times I believe it is your best approach on heavily pressured public land. Also, there are tons of small game hunters at West Branch and they stock pheasant there at some point in the fall. Don’t waste your time going when they stock pheasant because you won’t find a parking spot...
While in college (early 80's) I used to hunt the southwest area 2-3 days during the week. During the week the place was empty, too long ago for an accurate assessment what it's like now.
