Any of you guys with FB, I'd appreciate you helping me spread the word on this initiative. Veto Lake Wildlife Area is smack in the middle of where I grew up. I'd venture to say I've driven over, around, and by this lake 10's of thousands of times in my 36 years. With the rise in popularity with kayaks, Veto has been hammered by people in recent years. Not to cast stones, by a majority of the people using the lake come from across the river in WV. Far more people use the lake from outside the community than from within. Sadly, the increase in use has been followed by a drastic increase in litter. It's sad to see how bad it's gotten over the years. I've bitched about it before and I've hauled out plenty of trash in my day, but it is time to grow the idea and get more people involved.

So, I'd ask you to join the group and help spread the word!

Every public land is like this, from my experience. It’s sickening and the reason I really don’t enjoy fishing anymore. I take my kids and we spend far more time picking up trash.

It really bugs the duck out of me seeing trash in the side of the roads, shoes of ponds and lakes, peoples yards etc.

Everywhere you drive, there is trash on the side of the roads....every state I’ve been to, some worse than others. My first time driving in Canada, there was something different that I couldn’t put my finger on....then it hit me...no trash on the side of the roads. They have a different mentality up there that I wish we had down here. My home sits back 500’ from the road and twice a year I have to go and pick up trash in the woods near the road...two trash cans worth and one can full of bottles. I keep my trash in the front of the truck and throw it out when I get home. It’s not that hard to do. Same thing when I go fishing...always pick up fishing line and bait containers every time out....oh yeah, then I fish and drink a beer.

On a recent road trip I traveled 23 states. Texas was by far the worse for roadside trash. I’m not just talking fast food wrappers, actual garbage bags just tossed out on the side of the road.
Couple buddies who live there say it’s bad and people just don’t give a crap....

I may be the only one here, but I actually think littering isn't as bad as it used to be. Still has a long way to go though.

I think it's worse as people are lazier. How hard is it to take your empty worm container with you?!?

I think it’s very different depending on area. I know our fishing banks are littered with trash these days. I don’t remember it being like that as a kid. We were taught to take care of the resource and it’ll take care of you. Somewhere things got lost in translation and all that’s left is the “take” part of the message. It’s up to this generation to change that.

That's the "why" behind today's trash sweep. Several of my buddies are showing up to support this, which makes me proud of them. Hopefully some people I don't know agreed with the sentiment and show up to support us.

I encourage you guys to grab a trash bag and spend 30-45 minutes at your local public access spot today and collect some #trashtrophies and post them here to share the success.

Here in Jersey I live near a popular ski area that is used by many from New York city.. There is a road that all the New Yorkers have to travel to get here.. This particuliar road meanders through approx 8 miles of woods and becomes shit box of litter come every spring.. Evidently someone or a group picked up all the litter last week as I noticed at least 50 garbage bags full of garbage along the road.. I'm always picking up garbage in the woods..

Better than this shit. I found 14 condoms, 4 tampons and 2 pairs of underwear. This drug paraphernalia, as well as a needle, a shake 'n bake meth bottle, and pill bottle with shake in it. I'm down with the shake, the rest, not so much...
