Completely forgot about this, thanks Chuck. I think the hunting ban could have been longer, but they did hit the pocket pretty good.
Did he really make millions? I don't believe the revenue models are that strong in the industry. I'd like to hear @Curran pontificate on this.
Regardless, he's definitely "well off" compared to most of us and the monetary fine is probably not a huge deal for him.

My guess would be he's financially strapped. All those sponsors dropped him right when it happened and most never came back. He was selling all kinds of things on FB a while back. Tractors, equipment, etc..
Good. He bought all that stuff from our money. The good guy that spent his hard earned money on hunting products. The guy that sat on the couch with his kids and watched his shows.
I can promise you, FAR from millions. I think Giles was using it like a saying to drive home a point more than anything.

I went back and read the original article...what a prick. He got what he deserved. There is a list of the sponsors that dropped him also. He has to pay this fine, restitution, plus lost all future revenue connected to his show.
I'll say this... the man done something wrong and he's paying for it just like any of us would.
But I'll also say I've seen both sides of Chris Brackett I've seen him be a dick and I've also partied with him and had some beers and had a big time fun with him too. He ain't no different than the rest of us except he got a great big break and he made some bad decisions. Any one of you who are not guilty of making bad decisions step up right now I'd like to see who that is.

The landowner who let him hunt his land gave him strict instructions NOT to shoot a particular deer. When that deer was the first to appear, he shot it. Then a bigger one appeared and he told the camera man to delete the footage and shot the second deer. That is more than a “bad decision”. I’ve made bad choices like everyone else, but I’ve never stabbed someone in the back who done me a favor....quite the opposite, as I’d feel like I owed them and would somehow return the favor. This guys supposed to be a sportsman. Nothing but a poacher and a criminal. He’s probably sorry that he got caught, not for what he did. Big difference between a poor decision and bad character....I would never trust this guy to hunt my land.
JMO But its easy to sit here and judge what a person should or should not do in a situation. I wasn't there in person or happened to know every detail that led up to this act. Seems as if the size of the antlers took over an important decision. I do hope he learned a valuable lesson.

I'll just say it's easy to hate someone you dont know. Was never a fan of the guy from the outside but I have quite a few friends that have known him a long time some gave great things to say about him and others fell out with him and dont like him at all and now hate him for this. Hes gotta pay a boat load of cash for a deer. Hope he becomes a better person and learned from his mistakes like we all do. I sure as hell am not a perfect person nor hunter. I've done a load of things in life I'm not proud of and I'm glad there isn't video evidence of it to follow me through life. But I learned from all those mistakes and know they're not worth it to repeat. What's done is done though, justice has been served and were not the ones to decide if it is enough or not. All we can do is hope he betters himself from the situation.

I don't believe this good guy who made a mistake stuff. Chris has had numerous instances of him being a douche. This is the same guy who berated his cameraman like he was trash. I can't remember the exact words but basically he was calling him a stupid mother fucker, worthless, how he could do a better job on the camera etc.
When he was partnered with Elite he got all shitty with people on elites page until they had to take down posts.
In this instance the landowner asked him not to shoot the tall 8 as it was only 2 years old. Not 5 minutes later he shot him. Then the big one walked out and he tried to texas heart shoot it, the deer can be seen dragging itself on the ground with a paralyzed hind end. He doesn't try to reload the muzzy or anything just starts trashing his cameraman and demanding that he delete the footage of the tall 8. He never told the landowner about the first one and when confronted by the landowner he said "it's in gods hands now". The big deer he shot spoiled because he didn't gut it and spent the day taking hero promotional pictures.
The landowner went out and took videos of the tall 8 he shot and put them on FB and Chris threatened him with lawsuits and went after FB to make them delete the video everytime someone posted it.
