Congrats on the doe!

Two questions: I assume you're training the pup to blood trail...how far along is he? And second, are those ticks, flies or both on that deer? Out of curiosity. Ive never killed one this early in the season...its always been later when my seasons have opened.

My dog is a born and trained blood hound. He’ll be 5 in November. He was out for practice this weekend for when we need him the most. Both does went 100 yards so they were pretty easy. I simply followed the dog and found blood along the way. The flies were bad but a can of pepper keeps than at bay. Lastly, we’re prepared with ice blocks and ice needs. We quarter and into cooler on ice within 1.5-2 hours of shot. One doe was 1.5 and the other 2.5 plus, both with milk. Got Oreos?

Watching that pooch start out where I shot that deer then follow exactly where the deer ran in a zig and zag...watching him work was awesome. He earned that nap.
