Have you done a hunters safety class? I’m not being a total ass here, but there’s a little more to hunting than going out and killing stuff.
With 4 acres, also keep in mind that the deer will likely end up on someone else property. If a follow up shot is needed, you will indeed need a license. In fact, to even track it off the property carrying a weapon would be illegal. I’d suggest buying one and talking to neighbors before defending your grapes.
If you're hunting on land you own, even if you don't live on it, or on land you farm, you don't need a license.

no safty class , am 62 years young hunted most my life , mainly was simply wondering if I needed a license on my own land, lol no I have no need to just go kill stuff heh
1. Ohio resident landowners, spouses, and their children are not required to have a hunting license, fur taker permit, eithersex deer permit, deer management permit, spring or fall turkey permit, or Ohio Wetlands Habitat Stamp when hunting or trapping on land they own

Are you my neighbor? Did you buy the house for your son? Because if so, I’m one of the neighbors and HATE you all. Slow the fuck down on my driveway too! It’s also a lie about the backstop and I’ve offered to pay for one and you guys said no.
