Safety Single favorite/most useful piece of gear

I'm definitely going to look into rain gear for us this off season. Seems there are too many days we get down and have to deal with rain, even if just a drizzle. We have umbrellas but that doesn't keep the rain off of you on the way in or out. At least a jacket anyway.

Any quality soft shell should do the trick. Most companies make them nowadays and as long as you wash them correctly, they’ll do just fine for most hunters. They aren’t water “proof” but they’ll keep a majority of the water out. Even the cheap Walmart ones will work alright.

All of my Realtree Xtra Camo deer hunting clothes are Rocky's, both heavy and early fall bibs, jackets, flee inner jacket, a hat and a pair of heavy gloves.

I was turned on by them when I was in Nelsonville, Ohio one day, probably 10 years ago or better, and I still use the same original early fall hunting bibs today that I bought back then.

Quality stuff at a very fair price IMHO, and I seek them out purposely when I have a new need for any more deer hunting clothes.

I've also been a Rocky fan through the last 20yrs after driving thru Nelson-tuky every to and fro from OU. Lots of strong opinions when rheykved reir production overseas, but to this day, I have not been disappointed in any ify Rocky Gear the the years.

If it ain’t gortex plan on being wet! I bought some Sitka rain gear and it’s worth every penny.

It’s not silent, but it’s not noisy in my opinion. Sitka is high as giraffe pussy but it’s quality shit. I will be buying a few pieces here in there. Buy once, cry once.

It’s got pockets where you want them, not bulky, and very warm. Easy to pack extras and put or if needed.

I wore the my Sitka neck gaiter today on our boat ride and it's an amazing piece of gear. The wind doesn't get through it, but it's too damn warm to wear unless it's cold. I bought it specifically for boat rides during late duck season and it's paid off many times over!

Whether I'm chasing deer, or waterfowl, or upland game, or ice fishing on big water, my most valuable gear is the clothing that keeps me comfortable. So it's not really one particular item... It's a system for each endeavor. Being comfortable allows me to hunt longer, in more adverse conditions, and stay FOCUSED throughout the hunt... Which typically leads to more success.

A mid-90s Rod Benson grunt call is by far the most useful and successful accessory I have ever purchased. I can honestly say I have called in hundreds of bucks with it. My kids have been the benefactors of a few of them. I might do some research this eve and see if I can find another.
