Son and I hunted public WNF tonight. Area we’ve never hunted deer before. Found decent sign, but wind was swirling in the bottoms, coming from the SW over the ridge. Attempting to hike into and hunt areas a good distance from the road where the majority wouldn’t go. No luck tonight. Gotta get a plan together for muzzle loader.

Well we had 8 doe's come in and then 20 mins after they left out into the field a nice one came in. I whisper to my son on opposite side of giant tree a buck is coming and get his bow, keep in mind I can't see son or vice versa. This thing is coming straight at me and at 15 yds it quarter's right and is now 10 yds broad side of me and son, I'm running video cam and just waiting for the arrow to release any second, then the buck looks up at son and gets nervous, blows and runs.
I lean around and say what happened? He says what it's out in the field, I say yeah but it was right there..........oopppsie he didn't hear it come in and was looking out in field where the doe's came from and went however this guy came from behind him and I couldn't talk obviously to give a play by play 😂😂😂😂 none the less a super day, maybe tomorrow things will work out

If I can figure out how to edit this and put on YouTube I'll put in a video link. Sorry picture not to good I took a picture of the video on TV

Dang. That is a nice buck for a son.
Yeah he was super pumped. He was still buck fever shaking when we got down 20-30 min later and the closest he seen it was 35 yds lol. Probably would have falling out of stand if he seen him at 8 yds lol lol.

We're headed out this morning again to hopefully get another chance before the rain comes in. The buck blew but didn't seem real concerned, he ran 30 yds away but then came back kinda and walked past at 30 yds, unfortunately out of son's range

Drove around from 8-830. Never saw a deer. Never saw a truck parked along the road or orange anywhere. I guess Allen/Auglaize counties took the weekend off.

Good Luck today. Still spitting rain here in Ostrander. Going to sit this afternoon. Tomorrow is preparation for fishing season.
